Artesia will get 5 or 6 seed. It will probably look like this
1-Belen
2-Goddard
3-Volcano Vista
4-Aztec
5-Artesia

And you agree with that cdog? or that's how you would rank them?

Interesting Stat I'm trying to confirm, I'm pretty sure it's right. The last time Artesia lost to a 4A opponent at home was back in 2002 for the state title to Onate.

EDIT: You know what I think that Onate game was in Las Cruces, It would have been back in 2000 when Artesia lost to Goddard and Roswell that year, not sure if those games were at bulldog bowl but surely one of them was.

Based on how they seed, I think that will be pretty close. Strength of schedule does not count. All the losses to the TOUGH 5A schools does not factor in. I think it will be good for the Dogs to have a first round game

How much you want to bet that those northern boys throw Artesia and Goddard in the same side of the bracket to eliminate one of them quickly, and to increase the chances of an Albuquerque area school making it to the finals?

They did it last year. I bet they do it again.

Artesia is 6-4 and Aztec is 7-3. Aztec has a better record against 4A teams than Artesia. The one good thing that might swing things for the Dogs is that Thad Phipps is on the selection committee.

The Committee is as follows

Class AAAA
At Large: Tom Dragmeister Albuquerque
District 1: Rich Anderson Aztec
District 2: Terry Darnell Bernalillo
District 3: Bump Elliot Gadsden
District 4: Thad Phipps Artesia
District 5: Matt Vasquez Moriarty
District 6: Jim Danner Belen

It's always this way (more North than South) and to be honest, IMO, they don't do a bad job. Sometimes I would like it to be another way, but that's neither here or there. Last year I used some formula everyone was talking about and the seedings by the committee were within 1 or 2 places at the most. Gotta have faith that it will all work out. I just hope Artesia and Goddard are on different sides of the bracket. I think that is where the committee is most prejudiced. Sometimes it seems like they try to stack the deck so the final will be between North and South. Of course, that could just be MY homerism talking.
