The Sooners will play Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. That should be an interesting game for sure, we will see if A&M has the heisman winner as well. www.attcottonbowl.com/home/

Going to watch this game. That Texas A&M QB is one of the best and I think he's a freshman? I really like the former Houston Cougar coach now at A and M. Kliff Kingsbury is a super QB coach, hopefully Tubby gets fired soon and the Red Raiders hires him.

Red Raiders do not have deep enough pockets to hire him away from Aggieland

It isn't all about money all of the time but unfortunately most of the time. Thank goodness for coach Davie of UNM who helped bring a little respect to the football program this season with the money they pay him. Coach Kliff Kingsbury may have the same frame of mind, right? Anyway it will be a good football game. I probably will cheer for A and M although I hope Landry plays well.

I think it's funny that Kliff refuses to wear maroon and sticks to black or white on the sideline.

Sure thought about going to Cotton Bowl until I heard it was in JJ's place and SRO tickets were $160! Go back to the original Cotton Bowl, where the "REAL" Cowboys used to play!

FWIW - Landry did get a third-place Heisman vote from none other than Jason White. He was an ill-fated OU QB who did win the Heisman, so he does get a vote.
Also, FWIW - the compassion being shown to both Landry and Whitney, since last night, has been amazing. I hope it overrides some of the negativity that was on display when that one LOSER got on this board and started ragging on Landry. There's no reason, either, to think that bozo represented more than 1% of the fan base. Most of our group really is pretty nice, although I will admit to getting embarrased by the occasional drunken loser. But I've also seen those at UTEP, UNM, NMSU, OSU, etc.

I don't know if anybody seen the commercial for the cotton bowl on fox yesterday but it was pretty sweet featuring manziel and jones. I'm trying to find it again or hope to catch it on again and upload it.

And you are not the only one. I know MANY Texas Longhorn fans here in Artesia and when Texas and OU play in the annual Red River Rivalry they ALWAYS root for Texas, and against Landry. That just BLOWS MY MIND! Maybe it's just because I really didn't have a favorite college team until Landry went to OU. I have only been an OU fan since Landry gave his verbal to OU. And after Landry leaves OU I will probably no longer be an OU fan, or at least to the degree that I am now. Since Landry is the only Bulldog that I can remember who ever hit "The Big Time" I will cheer for whatever team Landry is on regardless of how I felt about that team before. I am a huge Dallas Cowboy fan, or at least I think I am, but I am an even bigger Landry fan! If Landry gets drafted by one of the Cowboy's most hated rivals I will be rooting for Landry and his team when they play Dallas........maybe my allegiance to Dallas isn't as strong as I think it is if I would be rooting for Landry to beat my Cowboys. But I WOULD root for him to beat the Cowboys (my favorite team) if it came down to it. Yeah, I know it sounds confusing. But I guess what it comes down to is that my allegiance to Landry and his success in the NFL is stronger than my allegiance to any "team". And about The Cotton Bowl game between OU and A&M......I just think it is totally SILLY that they call it "The Cotton Bowl" when it is NOT played in The Cotton Bowl. Anybody else???

My favorite football team is Texas Tech after all I am an alumni. I remember when I began watching Landry Jones when I moved from San Antonio back to West Texas. I wanted him to attend TTU when Captain Leach was coaching. I even send him an email to consider recruiting him. I don't know if he ever recruited him, I doubt it. Seth Doege was close to Lubbock and I think a 4 star QB. However, as I look back I am glad he went to OU. TTU administration did not and still doesn't have their act together. I said I would probably cheer for A and M. Why? I watched Kliff Kingsbury at TTU and have kept up some with him. I hope TTU get their act together and hires Kliff. I cheered for TTU when they beat OU and lost to them, but for an invidual I rooted for Landry Jones to do well but as a team TTU was my team. Thank you for your concern and thank the good Lord that there is unity rather than uniformity.

Agree with you Crispy, that idiot Jerry Jones might as well get all the games played in Jerry Dome! The real Cotton Bowl has been remodeled and I think it is nice, but no top, like football was meant to be! I guess they need to rename it to the JJ bowl!

I will watch 4-5 State Title Games at Jerry World and there is no better place to watch football. About 45K of my best friends will join me. He built a great venue to enjoy Football games. He may be the worst GM in the NFL but the Guy knows how to build a great stadium. We call it Jerry Jones's last erection

That is hard to get used to - the Cotton Bowl not being played in the stadium with the same name. But isn't "JerryWorld" domed? I've never been inside the stadium, so I really don't know. That could make a lot of difference this time of year. I still remember the '79 Cotton Bowl, when it was played on a frozen field (Notre Dame vs. Houston). I would have also guessed that the "Texas" team that Artesians follow would be Tech. I'm surprised the Longhorns have that much of an influence. I would have also thought that OU would have some alumni there due to the oil business. There were a few kids from Hobbs at OU when I went to school there, and they had oil-related majors.

So they can close the roof and make it a completely domed stadium during bad weather games, or they can open it up during nice weather. And about the Tech vs Texas fans in Artesia.....Yes, there are a LOT of Tech fans here! Maybe/Probably? even more Tech fans than Horn fans here. As I stated in my earlier post I never really had a favorite college team until Landry committed to OU, and I really didn't! But the team that I FOLLOWED most closely during my childhood was Texas! And the reason for that was because the Texas Longhorns were ALWAYS on TV. I never remember seeing the Red Raiders play on TV during my childhood. Heck, I probably didn't even know that Texas Tech even HAD a football team until probably the late 1970s. I think that TV exposure, especially in the early years, is probably one of the reasons that there are as many Horn fans here in Artesia as there are.

I'll always be a Landry fan, or any local player from Artesia playing wherever. I'm not a die hard on any certain college team. I am a die hard bears fan, I can't wait for the NFL Draft this spring, I don't think my team will be looking for a QB though. I'll root for Landry wherever he goes but if they play my bears I'll be rooting for a bears win, I take that serious lol. I've said if my own son played against the Bears I'd still root for the bears. I hope they reward me someday before I die for all my loyalty lol.

You are talking Chicago, you think they will reward you? With a SuperBowl Victory before I die, yes I hope so lol. It won't be this year, we need some lineman and a competent offensive coordinator, be nice if they can get Urlacher one before he leaves, I figure he has only a couple years left.

I liked the Jim Mcmahon, William "the refrigerator" Perry and company. Those were the real Chicago Bears. They won it all, they were charismatic and had fun. Since then they haven't been the same...
