Here is an interesting read, Mel Kiper says Jones maybe a 2nd Rounder. His stock is rising. NFL Draft 2013: Landry Jones Considered a “Draft Riser” by Mel Kiper Jr.fansided.com/2013/04/04/nfl-draft-2013-landry-jones-considered-a-draft-riser-by-mel-kiper-jr/Quarterbacks are always interesting to talk about when it comes time for the NFL Draft each year. From Robert Griffin III and Matthew Stafford to lower ranking names like Trent Edwards and Colt McCoy, it’s always fun to chart where quarterbacks you’ve watched come up through college end up being drafted in the NFL. Right now the only clear cut first-round quarterback is West Virginia’s Geno Smith, with guys like Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson and Mike Glennon coming up close behind him. But Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones is a name draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. is watching, and he’s even going as far as to say Jones is a “draft riser” who could end up being selected in the second round. Kiper writes that Jones was “once a likely mid-to-late rounder”, who has suddenly become somewhat of a hot commodity among general managers and that he “wouldn’t be shocked if someone took him in the late second round”. The problem with Jones while he was at Oklahoma seemed to be that he couldn’t function properly under pressure. This could be something he can work out, but in the meantime it likely will be a problem early on in his career. He wouldn’t be the first rookie to not be able to get his feet planted with confidence, but second round picks are expected to do so. Still, after a depressed quarterback market in free agency left a lot of teams still searching for backups, Jones isn’t the worst option out there. But again, it’s all about where you can get him, as reaching for Jones will put more pressure on his success while getting him in the right spot will make the pick look more natural and ultimately less like a bust.

It's still baffling to me why Landry was being mentioned as a potential fifth-round pick. Yet Matt Barkley, who did far less this past season before getting hurt, is still the draft gurus' golden boy.
They also seem to forget that Landry outplayed Geno Smith on his home field back in November. I also don't get the fascination with that kid from Tennessee who came out early. I guess he, along with Barkley, are sort of the "flavor of the month."

Agreed, watching Tyler Bray and Geno Smith play, I really don't get it. Matt Barkley is a disappointment. Glennon is decent.

www.wnba.com/draft/2013/draft_board.htmlKind of surprising (because of her injury). Whitney Hand Jones got drafted by the WNBA yesterday - third round to San Antonio. She was a legit talent but tore both ACL's during her career.

Wow, both going pro, should make things interesting. Landry maybe a 3rd rounder as well.

Please not Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. I can't be a fan of those teams. Not even if Landry is drafted by them. I just can't do it.

Agreed, watching Tyler Bray and Geno Smith play, I really don't get it. Matt Barkley is a disappointment. Glennon is decent. Not sure if you guys saw it or not, but the Albuquerque Journal ran a full page of stories on the draft, based on the projections of a guy from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. It didn't mention Landry anywhere. My theory is that the "draft gurus" in the media just like to have someone to beat up, and Landry is it. And the ironic thing is, the Cowboys could probably use him if he's available. I honestly didn't see that much of Tyler Bray, but I do know that Tennessee severely underachieved during his career. And Barkley did the same this past season. If he weren't such a media golden-boy (they go bonkers over USC QB's), he'd be projected as a mid-rounder, IMHO.

www.postandcourier.com/article/20130423/PC20/130429762/1177/matt-barkley-landry-jones-could-slide-in-nfl-draftThis is the same story that ran in the Journal this morning. And, having seen Landry play three times in his senior year, I don't get the whole "he backslid" thing. He wasn't great in El Paso, but no one on offense was, mainly because of the line play. He did what was expected against Florida A&M the next Saturday. And, we all know what he did to Oklahoma State in his home finale - 500 yards even and leading the game-tying drive in the final minutes. Only a drop by Sterling Shepard in the end zone meant he didn't get the glory that Blake Bell did for scoring on fourth down with four seconds left (the next play).

sports.yahoo.com/news/five-players-could-slip-first-143629649--nfl.htmlNot sure if this has been posted or not. It says Landry could actually make it back into the first round. It was also interesting, on one of the draft shows I saw last night, that Geno Smith said he thought Landry would have been a first-rounder in the 2011 draft (he was eligible to come out after the 2010 season due to being a third-year soph). If nothing else, I thought that was decent of him.

Doesn't look good as experts are calling this year's QB class mediocre at best and now with Smith dropping out of 1st round could be a long wait. Throw in the fact that he has trouble handling pressure......
