I know it's the football board but I really wanted to let everyone know about some AHS bowlers who were rewarded for all of there hard work by winning the New Mexico High School Bowling Association Class 4A State Championship! The Bulldogs led all qualifiers after the three game seeding section of the tournament and earned a first round bye. Following the bye the Bulldogs deteated Del Norte 3 games to 2 (best of five), defeated Santa Fe High 2 games to none and defeated Santa Fe again 3-2 for the State Champonship. I will post some more scores and awards when I return to Artesia but one outstanding performance had sophomore Jason Allred bowl games of 175-233-279 for a 687 series. Both thte 279 and 687 are Bulldog school records. This is the AHS bowlers second State Championship in the past three seasons!!!

Congrats to all involved! Keeping that "City of Champions" thing going! Better get after who ever is in charge and get those 2 bowling pins painted on the water tank west of town...one for this year, and one for the other state championship in bowling! Not sure who is in charge of getting that done, but I think they may be behind. Not even sure if our last state championship in football is painted on the water tank. Once again, good job!

Thanks guys. the kids were so good. Made this coach proud I can tell you! Actually I think bowling pins for 2012 and 2014 would jazz up the old water tower
