What is the 2nd favorite sport in Artesia?

I don't know, actually. In the 80's it was maybe baseball #2 on the boys side, but isn't volleyball fairly popular as well? I know there were always a number of people interested in it.

Man that's a tough one! I don't even know! Which sport besides football has the most state titles? I know that baseball has a few. And I think that track has a couple. Not sure about the girl's sports. Does anybody have a list of ALL state championships won by all sports at AHS? I saw a list maybe 10 yrs ago (on paper, not online) but I don't remember too much about it.

I forgot Volleyball, with the state titles and good teams we've had I think it's certainly gained in popularity recently.

I say Baseball is 2nd, Basketball is 3rd.

It depends on what your criteria is for 2nd? If you're talking about town support, I don't think there is a clear favorite for 2nd. It is sad to say that even crowd support for football has fallen off in the last few years. We've had our most recent success in Volleyball. There seems to be pretty good support for the softball team over the last 5 or 6 years, but nothing seems to stand out.

I'd have to say that softball and baseball are probably tied for 2nd. Volleyball and Basketball are neck and neck for 4th and 5th.

Track, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis and Golf would round out the top 10 in my opinion.

Back when I was HC in Baseball we had big numbers of players and drew very big crowds for the games.
