Man, I hate that. I can't make it as a member of the 1984 team. We will be playing Sudan that night. But blessing for my teammates. I loved everyone of those guys. That was my senior season and our 3rd consecutive blue trophy. I will wear something orange. From the class of 1985, one of the smallest modern day classes at AHS, thank you very much. IGTBAB!

" 5 " Decade of Champions
The 2014 Artesia Football Season brings us to a point in time that is unique. Since 1964, the Artesia Bulldogs have won the state championship every 10 years when the calendar year ends in "4". The Bulldogs won the state championship in 1964, 1974, 1984, 1994 and 2004. This is undoubtedly a very unique and special accomplishment and has not been attained in any other combination of decades.
The Artesia Public Schools and the Quarterback Club will be honoring these teams at the Homecoming game on September 19th when the Bulldogs will host the Deming Wildcats at Bulldog Bowl.
A special commemorative coin will be presented to those championship team members and coaches present. The presentation will take place during the half time ceremonies. All team members and coaching staffs will be honored. Also, the 1964 team will celebrate their 50th anniversary of the State Championship together at the Carlsbad game, September 26th, at Bulldog Bowl.
The 1964 Bulldog team was coached by L. G. Henderson. Record 11-1, scored 351 points to opponents 67, and defeated Albuquerque Highlands 20-6. The 1974 Bulldog team was coached by Mike Phipps. Record 13-0, scored 436 points to opponents 88, defeated Deming 23-0. The 1984 Bulldog team was coached by T. W. Harvey. Record 11-1-2, scored 313 points to opponents 106, defeated Aztec 33-12. The 1994 Bulldog team was coached by Cooper Henderson. Record 12-1, scored 449 points to opponents 168, defeated Lovington 35-21. The 2004 Bulldog team was coached by Cooper Henderson. Record 11-2, scored 485 points to opponents 176, defeated Silver City 42-0.

Rex Henderson also grandson of LG Henderson. Pretty mind-blowing. Those are just the ones that match the 4. There are tons of boys that game home and eat dinner with a dad that won it all. That's special. Artesia boys hear the words "you're gonna win it in such and such year. Expectations....

Mine are 8 and 6 and ate up with baseball and football. They like all sports but love those two the best. My boys would move to Artesia in a heartbeat. But what they dig best is the dogpile and school spirit.
