I am starting a new thread for this because I didn't want it to get lost in the main thread. This is the COMPLETE radio broadcast of that famous 1975 State Championship game vs St Pius.......the game that had the awesome fumble recovery by "Rapid" Roy Lawson, and the miraculous TD reception by Corey Tolle in the final minutes of the game. The video says 1974, but that is WRONG....we played Deming for the title in 1974....this IS the 1975 game!
It is an Albuquerque announcer and he does not give Rapid credit for the fumble, he just says that there was a fumble on the play and Artesia has recovered. But make no mistake.....it WAS "Rapid" Roy Lawson who recovered that fumble! The Albuquerque announcer also mistakenly credits James Pope with the TD reception that followed the fumble recovery by Rapid, but he corrects himself a few seconds later and credits Corey Tolle with the TD.
This is the entire game broadcast, but you can skip ahead to the 1:30:00 mark to catch the final 2 or 3 minutes of the game.......that is where Rapid's fumble recovery and Corey's TD take place. OR, you could always listen to the entire game from the opening kickoff to the final gun.....not a bad way to kill a couple of hours if you have the time. In fact, I may do just that later this evening!

Ha Ha! I've listened to the end of this '75 State Championship radio broadcast probably 3 or 4 times over the last month and I just now noticed something that has absolutely ZERO to do with the game itself. It's just a very subtle nuance that really "dates" this game broadcast.......gives it a bit of character I guess you could say.
At the 1:32:23 mark in the video you can clearly hear another radio station start to bleed over into the game broadcast. If you listen VERY closely you can clearly hear the song "Uncle Albert Admiral Halsey" by Paul McCartney & Wings playing in the background.....from another radio station! That's the full name of the song by Paul McCartney & Wings, but it was commonly referred to as simply "Uncle Albert". PM&W was the band that Paul McCartney formed not too long after The Beatles broke up. I remember that that song was very popular back in the mid-70s and received extensive radio play. I have Paul McCartney & Wings Greatest Hits, so I know the song very well......otherwise I might not have even noticed it. It's just a trivial little thing that other people might find silly, but I just love this kind of stuff! It would be kind of like if you were listening to an old radio broadcast of a Yankees baseball game from the 1930s, and suddenly a song by the Glenn Miller Orchestra started playing faintly in the background. Yes, the off-season is upon us, lol. Here is the full song just in case anybody is interested.....
