#2 Seed Artesia takes on #3 Seed Piedra Vista Saturday at 1pm in Bulldog Bowl. PV is 9-2 on the year with a loss to Durango Colorado and Roswell High, here is a look at their schedule. PV ScheduleArtesia played Piedra Vista last year in the Playoffs and won 54-7. Here is PV Game Article with the win over Roswell www.daily-times.com/story/sports/high-school/football/2015/11/21/pv-advances-5a-semifinals-27-16-win/76190768/What PV Coach had to say about impending matchup with Artesia. PV will play at No. 2 Artesia next week. The Bulldogs (10-1) held off No. 7 St. Pius X 27-21 today to advance to the semifinals. The Panthers saw Artesia in the quarterfinals last season with the Bulldogs winning 54-7 in Artesia. “We have to go there because they (the NMAA) changed the rule — it’s if you have history with them in the semifinals. So we have to go there,” Howell said. “It seems like we didn’t catch a break on that one.” Regardless, the Panthers are confident going into next week. “Act like we can win. And we can win,” Gamboa said will be the message he’ll send to his teammates. “We’ve seen them before and know what we’re going to face. We’ve been studying them all year like we were going to play them, so I think if we prepare right, we’ll come out of there with another victory.

PV is going to 6A next year, replacing Santa Fe in the group with Cleveland, Cibola, VV and RR. While they are a better program than SF it will be interesting to watch the highlights since I'll be seeing them in person either next year or the year after, dont know much about the program.

42-35 Artesia prevails on another Interception by Carrasco to seal it. I'll have some highlights later on.

All of our play-off games this year have gone right down to the wire and been nail-biters and I'm not use to that. I have a feeling that next week against Centennial will be no different.
And I certainly am not one to be second-guessing Coach Henderson's play calling, but MAN, what the heck was up with that fake punt? You are up by 2 scores and you run a fake punt from near mid-field??? NO NO NO! Kick it away and pin them deep.....make them work for it! That right there led to a PV score right before the half and made the REST of the game way closer than it should have been. That failed fake punt changed the momentum of the game.....not enough to affect the final outcome.....but it did give PV momentum going into half-time. That fake punt attempt is the reason the game wasn't decided until the final minute. It should have been over WAY before that. Had me pulling my hair out!

Hindsight always 20/20 but yeah wasn't my favorite call either, if we were going to go for it, just straight up go for it with our offense and not try a trick, a little too far to run for it to I'd say.
PV had a couple good playmakers that Shay kid, there were some Shays on the 06 and 07 panthers, I bet they are related.
Yeah your right crispy, no cake walk games in the playoffs this year, I think we got to turn it up another notch on the road if we want bring #29 back.

I'm sure many fans got to see what I consider an amazing act of great sportsmanship after today's hard fought game. When The PV team went to midfield and knelt down on one knee,,,,the Bulldog team as a whole ran out and joined them by fitting themselves into their circle as the PV players pulled them further into their circle of Prayer/Thanks. What an amazing sight to witness among young men after such an event,,!!!! I was trying to fish my phone out of my 3rd jacket and did not get it out before they broke up the "circle" Does anybody by chance have the pic on their phone,,??

So far, that I know of,,,,nobody has tried to hire me as head football coach,,,maybe because of my senseless football knowledge,,,,,? Here's one for the Gurus. Is there a rule in the NMAA books that "REQUIRES" the kicker to kick the ball straight to the deep man,,,,?? Artesia has a young man that has and CAN kick the ball into the end zone every time,,,so why do the current kickers kick STRAIGHT to their deep man,,,? What am I missing here,, I ain't got much hair left and getting fewer and fewer as we go,,,,!!!

There were just some silly mistakes that will have to be removed if Artesia is going to win next week. Little darn mistakes you don't normally see this late in the year. Missed tackles, getting sacked when you can throw it away (about the only flaw I see from #17, he is terrific), fumbles, blocking in the back on a pick 6, too many yards after contact at times, giving up the inside on a seam route on 3rd and 11 and giving a first down that led to a TD, and a kickoff return for a TD. All those are fixable. You don't get away with those types of mistakes in December. I didn't realize the 'dogs were relatively young for an Artesia team. I heard the word sophomore several times. I'll be wearing black and orange in honor of these guys on game day.

You're right. I do hear the announcers say he is a sophomore quite a bit. Does anyone know if Jacob Enriquez is returning next week? Miguel got hurt. What is his status?

The bulldogs defensive- Ends are getting suck inside they need to contain the outside run first and trail.I been watching the defensive ends all year long, don't be too quick to go inside.
