Cal preps has this one Centennial 34 Artesia 31 it has been back and forth all year long as to who would win not that it matters it doesn't take into account the heart of these young men and the will to win and finally Artesia's record in state games so it ought to be an outstanding game

If you think you are beaten, you are; If you think you dare not, you don't. If you'd like to win, but you think you can't, It is almost a cinch that you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you're lost; For out of the world we find Success begins with a fellow's will It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you're outclassed, you are; You've got to think high to rise. You've got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win the prize.
Life's battles don't always go To the stronger or faster man; But sooner or later the man who wins Is the one who thinks he can!

It's going to be a great game and Centennial will have some extra emotion with the Oline coach passing away due to a vehicle accident. It was just announced yesterday. Roger Grays was his name.

Very interesting match up. Centennial has had only two teams even compete with them all season (Onate 36-28, Las Cruces 42-35), both being won by Centennial. On offense, Centennial is HUGE up front with senior's #80 Zeke Herrera, #58 Luis Gurrola, #54 Stephen Garcia, #73 George Nino, #54 Stephen Garcia, #51 Vincent Rubino & #88 Chase Austin. All who a 4 year letterman (thats not a typo). You'll see your standard "GT" guard kickout & tight end lead up the hole to both sides. And when need be they'll take a chance down the field but they'll rely on that veteran OL. On defensive, should be Artesia's specialty. Their secondary is their achilles heel, but hell the only defense I saw all weekend long was the stand the Alexandrians had when the walkers invaded the safe zone in The Walking Dead.
I'll be making the trip east to see this matchup and be sitting on the visitors side. To those that make the trip be safe and enjoy.

I really think the Hawks will use a lot of blitzing. They will borrow a page out of the Roswell coyotes defensive line when they played Artesia

Hey Roy, do you remember listening to this one??? When you and I were playing football at Zia Jr High we use to lay down in the dark in the athletic room and Coach Phipps, Coach Garner, and Coach Osborne, and Coach May would play this for us...

Some advice from me if your going up to Cruces, if your looking for somewhere to eat check out ranchway bbq and Mexican food. It's only a couple miles from field of dreams too. I ate there in the spring after a soccer tourney, food was very good. Was a little busy but worth it.

My dad spoke this to me often throughout my life. I found a book about Ray Eliot written by his son. The poem is the main theme of the book. For me, one of the best books ever. I imagine it would sell in T town. In the pic, that is Ray Eliot with the fedora and glasses.

Agent Orange is on point with Ranch way BBQ. I usually eat the BBQ brisket sandwich. For those that may want some Mexican food after the game, I'd go with El Sombrero on 363 S. Espina. I eat the chicken flautas made with flour tortillas instead of the corn. They're big. Also great salsa and guacamole.

Well, we're fairly close together on common opponents except for Las Cruces High, which Centennial defeated but who defeated us.
For what it's worth, MaxPreps shows rating-wise that Centennial (38.7) is about 5 pts better than Artesia (34) but Artesia (13.9) is around 10 pts better than Centennial (4.1) on strength of schedule.
Schedule-wise, we played 7 teams with winning records and won 6 times and Centennial played and won 5 times. Centennial played and defeated 5 opponents who finished in the top 10 rankings (4 in 5A and 1 in 6A). We played 8 teams ranked in Top 10, winning 7 times (5 in 5A and 2 in 6A).
I have no idea what that means, for crying out loud, but I am expecting a hard-fought close game. How they ever came up with an algorithm to figure this stuff out is mind-boggling to me. CalPreps isn't usually too far off but I think it could go either way. Guess that's why we play the games. I do think the Field of Dreams is an excellent home-field advantage for them. It's pretty hard to win there and I'm sure very loud.
Here's hoping everyone plays their best, holds their tempers and shows good sportsmanship. Above all else, I'm praying the game is injury free and all involved arrive and return home safely.
Don't forget: It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog!
Go Dogs!

I don't think Houghtaling is 6'6 but sounds good though lol. The Article is right though, we've leveled out the last 2 weeks and even Henderson said we were lucky to come out with wins. I see it like this, Goddard had a 12-6 lead on Centennial until 2 minutes before half and gave up 2 quick Touchdowns to the Hawks. If we come to play tomorrow we've got a great chance to win, if not we can kiss #29 goodbye until next year. That's my thoughts.

So if Las Cruces was their toughest opponent who was their 2nd toughest opponent Onate? or Goddard? The dropoff is pretty significant. Guess we will see tomorrow.
