Whenever the "Armchair Quarterbacks" get together, the following question invariably comes up,,,," Whatever happened to playing the song " Who let the Dogs out" when the Bulldogs scored a touchdown,",,,,?? I'm sure there was some political correctness involved and surely not more than 2 people complained,,,? Does anybody know and care to enlighten us??

Whenever the "Armchair Quarterbacks" get together, the following question invariably comes up,,,," Whatever happened to playing the song " Who let the Dogs out" when the Bulldogs scored a touchdown,",,,,?? I'm sure there was some political correctness involved and surely not more than 2 people complained,,,? Does anybody know and care to enlighten us?? Not sure how exactly political correctness would be involved. I can't think of a single reason why playing "Who Let The Dogs Out" would be offensive to anybody. That being said......I am glad that they stopped playing it. No offense to you, but I thought it was rather silly.....not to mention the fact that it was getting rather old.....just my honest opinion. I liken it to a period back in the mid-late 1990s when for a couple of seasons they would play the theme song from "The Flintstones" at Ralph Bowyer Caveman Stadium every time the Cavemen scored a touchdown.....or kicked off.....or intercepted a pass.....or recovered a fumble.....or called a time out. The Flintstones were cavemen...Carlsbad football team are the Cavemen...thus the Flintstones theme song. I don't miss "Who Let The Dogs Out" at all. But, if there is one tradition that I do ABSOLUTELY miss......it is the fireworks. And I still find the reason that they gave for discontinuing the fireworks to be rather inadequate. They said they discontinued the fireworks because of safety concerns. They weren't a safety concern for the years...and years...and years before that? I really do miss the fireworks at Bulldog Bowl on Friday nights. I had rather see the fireworks return than "Who Let The Dogs Out".

In this day and age,,Political Correctness is a direct result of a very limited number of folks that voice their dislike for "some" action that has probably been done for a number of years. That dislike is wrongly understood by the powers that be, and "changes" happen. The majority of the people are never allowed to voice their opinion, so political correctness happens,,,,,, A "dig" at an opponent is a "dig", whether it be that "jungle song" in Raton, (remember?) or the "Flintstones" in C-Bad, the " Artesia Fireworks" and, even " Who Let the Dogs Out",!! SOMEBODY complained to the APS about the fireworks "digging" at the opposing teams when a touchdown was scored against them,,,and our leaders listened and reacted for all the wrong reasons. Fire safety,,?? Give me a break,,,,!! I always felt a "pride" when "Who Let The Dogs Out" was played,, cause that was them DOGS doing it,,!!
