Week 3 Bulldogs (0-2) are back in Bullodg Bowl against the Belen Eagles (2-0) Scores from Previous Years. 2017 (State Title Game) Bulldogs 48-14 2015 (Regular Season) Bulldogs 41-0 2014 (Regular Season) Bulldogs 40-14 2014 (State Title Game) Bulldogs 49-21 Should be an interesting game, Bulldogs hungry, desperate for a win. Belen determined to prove themselves against us with recent history of defeat including 2 State Title games. Both teams were considered to be favorites again to make a deep run in the playoffs. They return their hard nose RB Diego Casillas, hearing Belen is trying to play with a more balanced attack now. By looking at Maxpreps stats for Casillas he carried 40 times against Farmington however, and 24 times against Del Norte. Their QB threw for 353 yards against Del Norte vs 165 yards against Farmington where they seem to rely on the Run heavily with Casillas. But more balance does seem likely in their gameplan this time around. Bulldogs facing some adversity and injuries, but like an old friend of mine said "Don't poke a wounded dog with a sharp stick" Hopeful to see some angry dogs on Friday, ready to get a Win. Go Bulldogs!

The true reflection of character is revealed during tough times and the true test of good character is how you respond to disappointing moments.
Every Artesian has been instilled with good character teaching and a pursuit of excellence.
Go Dogs, play hard and above all else play with the traditional excellent character that makes Bulldog football the greatest on earth. All of these teams can aim to get us once, but the legend and legacy of Bulldog football will never end.....

Well a few things to think about coming into Friday’s game. Belen wants revenge for the way things went down last year. Anyone will say no no the past is the past but let’s face it, it hit hard for those kids and I really don’t blame them.
These bulldogs have had a hard time. Finding a identity in a football team is very hard sometimes. I’ve seen it college level and pros too.
Come Friday I see the dogs struggle to get some things done but they improved a lot from game one. They will continue to improve. It won’t be a blow out I feel like this team is going to have to fight hard this season. Once 30 went up on the press box that target got freaking Huge on there back.
BUT........ who else plays big 6A teams twice to start the season. Doing that showed the dogs just what needs to be fixed. We could have played del Norte or Farmington but let’s face it that’s just not the dogs way.
I’m gonna be there Friday night and cheering on this great tradition of Bulldog Football.
Join me will you.😉

The Dog’s will be ready to go on Friday night. Looking forward to the rematch. The key to victory is consistency in all four quarters. We have looked very good in spots in the previous two games. I am confident we will do better this week. Preseason is the place to work out the kinks. This is a big game and we will have the opportunity to prove ourselves against a very good 5A opponent. Go Dogs! Beat the Eagles!

Well well well things have not started off the way many wanted them to this year but hey the world turns in many ways and let’s say this, I believe these games will prove to be building blocks for these guys.
Now the Belen eagles are coming here for one thing and one thing only. Revenge! Last years championship game was down right humiliation and I’m sorry but history should have told them that no matter if your undefeated, deserving, or play with heart the Bulldogs have met with teams bigger better faster undefeated and still won.
Now we come to today. Belen 2-0 coming off wins agains del Norte and Farmington. Seem to have a better team against those two teams they played. Ranked 2 and flying high.
Artesia faces off with two big squads that have big time tradition and some really big players. 0-2 seems harsh for a bulldogs year but hey this town only has what 11,000+ people? Carlsbad pulling from 89,000 plus Hobbs is the biggest high school in the state. You should be able to beat schools in smaller towns.
This game will be another good test of how these dogs can bounce back from adversity. They will have to drag them self’s out of the fire and play with more. Game three rematch let’s take it to them dogs make them know last year was no fluke. Bulldogs football is a real deal and is what the state knows as title town is no joke.
Go Dogs beat the Eagles!

I tend to think they don't, more parents & fans and coaches than anything. Message boards are more for the older crowd and for discussions in my mind, not many youngsters into that I think.
With all the other platforms out there now I tend to believe kids go where the adults aren't, if you remember Facebook was a college thing, as it opened up to others, adults got on and the younger crowd left, it wasn't cool anymore.
I think kids tend to be more on twitter, instagram, snapchat, youtube etc. I tend to get more hits or subscribes, comments from kids on my highlights on youtube, that's what they are into, seeing themselves or friends lol.
just my 2 cents on that.

Team looked much better on both sides of the ball. I'm not sure what it is about seeing a big ole QB out there, but it just sets the tone for an aggressive attack.
Defense really stood up and showed some grit. I think Belen thought they were going to run the ball all over us, but that D showed some fight. That nose tackle is a tough kid.
Great win.

Good to win that's for sure. 28-14 Artesia.
I didn't see any balance from Belen tonight, pretty much same gameplan as last year, run run run. They were better last year I think, they probably say the same about us. If a few plays had gone the other way for Belen they could have potentially won this game. They had some key mistakes, See how it shakes out the rest of the year for us two in 5A
This was a good win and effort all the way around, keep it up and keep it going.

Did you watch the game? Penalties stalling drives, can't get an inch to score a go ahead TD and dropped passes stood out to me. It's early in the season and the dogs are trying to find their identity. However, call a spade a spade. The main positive was that we put 4 quarters of intense football together tonight. It was fun watching that defense go to work against the run game. I bet 45 sleeps well tonight. That boy was rode hard and put away wet tonight.

I’d bet he had over 200. He was thier everything and he played defense all night.

Don't disagree with any of the comments. But I think both teams had some plays that could've gone either way.
The most positive takeaways for me are that defense getting stout when needed and the progress of that young QB who played his first Varsity game which was a big one. It was obvious the young QB was very nervous and missed early, but started to settle down and you can see the potential to be great again at that position. Give him a few runaway games to get going and it's Friday night lights again going down the stretch.

You play preseason games to get better. It sounds like to me that in all games tis year that everything the Dogs need to fix are very fixable. You have a young team who gets to watch film and get better. The thing that saddens me is the number of people who gave up on the kids early in the season and whined oh we are bad and can't win State. Love the fans who understand what is fixable and what is not. All that matters at end of the year is how the team is playing at end of the year. Sounds like to me that this team can improve and mold itself into a great Bulldog team. Congrats Coaches and Players for the improvement in game 3 and for Protecting the Tradition

Dogs have a lot of things to work out, if they plan on challenging Los Lunas in the end. They did look better tonight... but we got a few breaks to preserve the win. Could have went against us and we’d be 0-3. I thought Clay settled in nice at QB... our running game finally started to work and Defense plus special teams looked pretty good. Penalties, and drops were killing drives. And yes.... our goal line offense must improve!

In one of the punt returns a bulldog blocked in the back and was not called. The dogs got a break on that play
