I believe that the game is still up for viewing at ksvptv.com.......I haven't checked, but no reason to believe that it is not because they always have been up at least a few days after the game. QUESTION.....does anybody know which quarter...and within a few minutes.......when that blocked punt happened. I would like to look at that play again, I saw it when it happened and I still can't believe the officials ruling on that play. We were flagged for a false start but the play continues and the punt is blocked......then the officials give Roswell the option to decline the penalty and take possession of the ball. Did that really happen?

Linus they played hard. They will be back next season. I am sure there will be some adjustments. Artesia had not beaten Roswell in basketball in along time and they finally did last year. Same thing for Roswell football. They had not beaten Artesia in football in years. I think Roswell will be in a higher district next year, not sure. the seniors will not be back next season... that is their final football memory!! Painful

Very Tough loss last night.
It was the 3rd quarter Crispy, the blocked punt and the Int that went for 6, that really fueled the comeback. We were making it look easy and we might run away with it up 21-7 at half. Then the 3rd quarter collapse, reminds me of the hobbs game same situation almost.
To the Bulldogs credit we did come back from that, defense held them and we go down the field to tie at 42. I really thought we would go for 2, and finish them off like last time. We had the momentum at that time, I just feel we would have got it, yes there would still be some time on the clock but I think that would have put a lot of doubt in the Coyotes head and the feeling of defeat.
That's how it goes though, knew it would be a tough game but after the way we started can't help but have the feeling we let this one slip away.
Wish the seniors well that are moving on, we lose some good ones. I feel the class moving up is pretty strong, I think we will be in the mix the next couple years, they will be the ones to find the trail back to #31. Until then, that's all for now, 2018 season is a wrap.

Artesia has been here before and has bounced back. I remember when they lost to Moriarity in a play off game a few years ago that was upsettong. I am rooting for Los Lunas to win today and take it all...

Tough way to lose and it was a heartbreaker, but this team just had too many inconsistent moments (play execution and coaching) throughout the season and this game was no different. They started this way and finished this way and not sure what's that about.
The kids played their hearts out and my hats off to these young men. Taylor was almost perfect and Flood darn near willed us to a state title.
Key moment, why didn't we attempt to on side kick the ball when the penalty put us kicking on their side of the field? No one even mentioned it as an option and the difference would've been 10 yards. That was a no brainer in years past, especially since we couldn't stop the run.

You are are right, too many incosisrancies from Carlsbad, to Hobbs, to Goddard and now Roswell. I mentioned to my wife, Artesia needs to go for 2 but they did not. Then I thought Artesia needs the on side kick but again it did not happen. Hopefully the coaches got some lessons out of this season and capitalize on them. On another subject. New Mexico is in NEED of good and energetic young referees not old goats. Even the referees are very inconsistent

Gotcha... then that’s a problem. False start should have been an automatic dead ball. My son on the sideline said the ref (who threw the flag)- told our coaches that we didn’t have enough on the line of scrimmage. We didn’t seem to question it..... as usual

But kids aren’t stupid, they know that our starting cornerback was pulled from the game on the final drive.... the backup was targeted on both final plays! Tough pill to swallow for seniors. Coaches can say..... oops, my bad! We’ll get em next year! That’s not the case for all the players!

As I sit here and feast on a couple of pancakes fixing to watch the Michigan vs Ohio State game I had time to reflect on this game.
The season was salty to begin with. Lots of work went into this year. The young men for the bulldogs did some amazing games this year. And also had some hardships. Injuries and tuff mental breakdowns in games.
But they never gave up and fought to the bitter end. I’m very proud to call myself a alumni of Artesia high. Not just the football program but the whole school is worth fighting for. Once that 30 went up on the press box everyone in the dog wanted to knock off the defending state champs. Having that target on the back is always hard thing to endure. Our boys did it all year. They didn’t get blown out they went down fighting.
The coyotes did a great job coming back and doing there job. Hope they can pull it off one more time. It’s been awhile since they have gone to that dance. Hell most of these kids were being born when they last went lol. And a all city championship title fight will be interesting if it happens.
I know it stings today and it will sting for awhile the kids we replaced last year with these youngesters had a big job to fill. They did a good job. To the seniors they will hold there heads up high. And move on to big things once they graduate.
Next year team will be back with a new crop of fighting dogs. This is a program that never rebuilds they will reload. And reload and reload year after year. Bulldogs will always be in that mix. So get ready New Mexico. August 2019 Artesia will be back and will be hungry again. 😉
Besides we can’t win it every year. Remember everyone deserves a trophy 🏆 lol

Here is the deal. We returned a lot after last season. When Willingham left the off season conditioning program left with him. I hope Rex learned a big lesson this season. You can't be the last coach to the field house and the first to leave for the night. He has no self discipline. We lost games this year cause we we're poorly conditioned. We aren't going to win games just cause we are Artesia. We have to work our butts off to keep the tradition alive.Id Rex puts his heart and soul into the program then the tradition stays alive. If he keeps up not wanting to out in the extra time then playoffs is all we do.
Last night showed that our kids don't quit. We could have wuit in the 3rd quarter with Roswell just puring it on in the 3rd.
Weeill survive this season. Life goes on and rhAts the most important lesson.

You're right, when a person is in charge of a progam you do everything you can to improve it. When my wife was a principal she would be the first one at school and the last one to leave. She is retired now but she even tried to recruit me to be a school counselor and start an 8th grade football team but the reservation did not go for it. If coach is not doing that, hopefully he gets a change of attitude. My wife was the first to say at my house, "the bulldogs lack endurance", when they lost to Hobbs.

I know these boys never quit I never question that. I happen to know a few of them and they would never quit. I feel coaching has let us down. Poor time management, knowing situations , and even just showing some grit in their play calling. The old staff would never have put up with all this. Not only that but how many times would you see players joking around on the sidelines or doing something other than cheering on teammates. That's a lack of discipline.

Ever notice when we win state we had a great team, but when we don’t its bad coaching. I say B.S. we have a great coaching staff, players that want to win and fans that expect to win. The players and Coaches put in countless hours to put a quality program on the field year end year out. They do a great job! Arm chair Monday morning QB’s have never won one game or a State Championship. I am proud of our staff and players and their effort this year. We play the toughest schedule in the state and compete in the toughest 5A district in the state. So we didn’t win it all this year we will survive. As Charliedog says “Tradition never graduates.” Players graduate, Coaches move on, but it will always be “Great to be a Bulldog!” Thanks players and coaches from a diehard fan.

Not passing judgement here, but if.......and I do mean IF this is true, then that is a HUGE problem! Work ethic starts at the top.

IF IT IS TRUE? You post this B.S. on the website and you don’t even know if it is true. You are passing judgement on something you know little about. You talk about work ethic and what walked out the door when Willingham left. I know Willingham is a great Coach he coached both of my sons. But he quit, made a parallel move to a program that has not won a state championship since 1962. We are still Artesia. We have a off-season program, we have 95% of the staff that won a state championship last year and made the semi-finals this year. One thing I know for sure Rex Henderson and his staff will work their butts off to keep the tradition alive. Artesia will win another State Championship, probably before Coach Willingham, his offseason weight program and the Carlsbad Cavemen win district. Count your blessings. It’s great to be a Bulldog!

Won’t argue the point that the work ethic starts at the top. It’s true hard work makes a difference but it does not guarantee success. Everybody works hard but you don’t always win. When my youngest son played the coaches worked hard the players worked hard and we lost in the playoffs two years in a row. Coaches can’t work or will a team to the State Championship every year. Coaches coach, players play and sometimes you lose. In 61 years we have won 30 State Championships. LG. Henderson, Mike Phipps, T.W. Harvey, Cooper Henderson, and Rex Henderson all have something in common. They did not bring home the blue trophy every year and it was not because of their work ethic.
