How does this guy keep his job? I know you don't want Carlsbad to get better ..... LOL. It is sad though that the administration thinks this is acceptable. They wouldn't even have won 4 games if Willingham hadn't come over and become the DC. VERY sad to watch year after year.
2018 G. Bradley 4-5-1 2017 G. Bradley 4-6-0 2016 G. Bradley 4-6-0 2015 G. Bradley 1-9-0 2014 G. Bradley 2-8-0

Believe it or not I actually saw your post about 15 minutes after you made it. Yeah, I don't post much during the off-season, but I am here every single day......a couple of times a day actually.....lurking, lol. How does Gary Bradley keep his job, given his record over the past 5 years that you posted above? I wasn't really sure...that is why I didn't respond right away.....but I've been thinking. Just a few thoughts........ The obvious thing that jumped out at me right away is his last name, Bradley. He has a pedigree. The name "Bradley" in NM high school football is not to far removed (if at all) from names like Henderson....Roanhaus....Gleghorn....and Gentry. Coaches with these last names tend to be winners in NM, even if it takes a few years. His dad is Jim Bradley for cryin' out loud. Guess they figure the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and that eventually....if they stick with him.....he will "come around". Also, expectations maybe? Carlsbad isn't exactly use to going 9-1 or 8-2 every year and making the play-offs every single year. Some fans...and school boards...are perfectly content to go .500 every year. Also, maybe priorities? I have heard some screwy things about the Carlsbad school board, such as them not placing a high priority on success of their sports teams. It could be that they are just content with things the way they are.....ESPECIALLY if the coach doesn't do anything to embarrass the school (like stupid off-the-field stuff), and especially if they think he is a good role model and setting a good example for the kids. OH.....and he DID beat Artesia last year.....so expect him to be there for at least a few more years, lol. Sorry, but that's all I've got. I am sure others will have opinions.....Agent Orange maybe?

We went 8-3 twice under Arrington, and they fired him after a 6-5 season . I would go with expectations more than anything or he has naked pics of the AD. Some fans or school boards might be satisfied with .500 seasons but he can't even do that. The apple fell far far far away.

I had the great pleasure of watching him Bradley coach the Roswell coyotes and let me tell you, before gateway Christian and balky Christian and nmmi got a lot of the athletes in Roswell the coyotes led by that man were a force to be reckoned with year in and year out.
This Bradley is not his father that’s for one and truthfully I think Willingham went to Carlsbad to stick his name in there just because he knew that getting a head coaching job here in Artesia wasn’t gonna happen and two with last years caveman team not getting into the playoffs just isn’t right. Those kids were big and talented. It’s almost like they gave up and said screw it bring on basketball season.
If cbad cuts Bradley loose which honestly should be this year but one more season like this year and I will bet anyone a crisp dollar bill Willingham will be the new head coach.
Carlsbad has ALOT of people there cause of the oil field boom there should be no excuses for them not being in the playoff race every year for football.
My opinion nothing more guys

Dude, we were 4-5-1? Playoffs? What's sad is we were 4-5-1 with that talent and the guy is still coaching here, that is what is sad. That's as bad as Goddard getting in a few years ago with a 4-6 record , 0-3 in the conference. It doesn't say much for New Mexico football.
And by the way....here are the other 3 wins we had besides Artesia and their records
Atrisco Heritage 1-9
Gadsden 1-9
Onate 1-9
SAD !!!!!!
You are right about that we "should" win. We have twice the enrollment as Artesia, that alone should be a huge advantage. Problem is , so many kids that should be out for football don't come out. Various reasons I suppose but losing is a huge one.

I am pretty sure that he meant it was a shame that with the size and talent that Carlsbad had that they didn't have a BETTER record and make the playoffs.

Crispysdad- totally understand and hope I didn't come across too harsh. I appreciate the banter. My harshness is totally directed at an administration that has zero expectations. I knew the answer to my question when I asked it.... needed to vent . It is sad when expectations are so so low or non existent at all. We sure can't sink any lower. We just need to play more "Sisters of the Poor" teams with 1-9 records.

Pretty sure the admins draw the line at name calling, profanity, and personal attacks, but I am not a moderator so I can't really speak for them. But you're good in my book.

Here is another fun fact for you.... In 5 years of stellar play, we have only beat two teams that have had a winning record. Artesia last year(yikes you guys), and Alamogordo in 2015. Teams we beat by year and their records: 2018 Artesia 6-4 Atrisco 1-9 Gadsden 1-9 Onate 1-9
2017 Goddard 4-7 Cibola 2-8 Onate 2-8 Gadsden 1-9
2016 Goddard 5-5 Cibola 3-7 Gadsden 1-9 Hobbs 2-8
2015 Alamogordo 6-4
2014 Hobbs 4-6 Alamogordo 5-5

Apparently there is a lot of guys just walking down the street naked in Carlsbad for everyone to take pictures of. Taking that Caveman thing a little to serious ha ha. In all seriousness though, Carlsbad has changed since the oil boom resurgence, but with all the good things it brings, there will be some bad things. But Anyways I don't get Carlsbad though, Kirk Potter comes to mind, last coach to take them to a football title game, had a great run but was canned, maybe politics, school board, I have no clue, but was a winner, went to Cleveland later and built something there and won a couple titles there and called it quits. Just seems like Tradition though, Artesia a football town, Carlsbad is a Baseball town, Hobbs is basketball, that's the way it's been and that's the way it always going to be, unless someone comes in and changes the culture and town perception, school board etc have the support behind that person as well. what do you think?

Hobbs football record the last 5 years ... 7-4, 9-3, 2-8, 7-5, 4-6 . So a basketball town can still win at football. Only beating 2 teams with a winning record in 5 years. Averaging 3 wins a year over the last five years. Only teams we can play with go 1-9. Not even making the playoffs in the last 5 years. Heck, everyone makes the playoffs in New Mexico.... except us. HORRIBLE is a word that comes to mind.

yeah I see your point, I guess making the playoffs would be a good first step for Carlsbad.
Hobbs usually makes a playoff appearance but always seems 1 and done and been stuck at that stage for sometime now.
Would also say in the Top Class, seems the power has shifted to the Northern schools, 2013 was the last time south won, with Cruces beating Mayfield.
