I was thinking of last years schedule and it dawned on me.
We played deming for homecoming and if the schedule reversed itself this year I started to think who would be the homecoming game?
Home games should be: Hobbs Cleveland Lovington Goddard Alamogordo
Now tradition depicts that we choose a “cupcake team” and I don’t like saying it like that cause a lot teams can get there butts handed to them at any given time.
So my question is to you loyal football fans of the big orange machine who do you think will be this years homecoming game?
Or if anyone knows who it’s actually going to be let us know.

I think it would have to be Hobbs or Cleveland.
I think we've played one of them before for Homecoming, That first time we played Cleveland in 2016 and slugged it out in Bulldog Bowl was that a homecoming game? For some reason I think it was, exciting game never the less.
I think Duff got hurt in that game and was out the rest of the year, but was playing fantastic up until that point. We lost 42-28, Cleveland tacked on an extra TD as time ran out but was back forth all night as I remember it.
Schedule should be final here soon, if not already. Usually have it in March and post it on here.

No Crap lol.
I don't remember any previous homecoming game with them.
We've smoked lovington so bad the past 8 years or so, but I do believe in a year or two they will have a strong team that might compete in our district. I just know their current freshman class is strong. We played them better this year but they beat us on a hail mary last play of the game. My son played soccer with several of them, good athletes in that bunch for sure.
Last time I remember Lovington giving us a run was in 2010 Lovington had Jacob Jameson as QB, 63-49, Dogs win but back and forth.

Hard to believe how time flies, I work with a couple of these guys in the video now, Andy is a coach, will now coach my son coming up. Koby Caton is the Athletic Trainer now, good guys to work with our athletes.
And I Guess I'm getting older, never thought it would happen lol

The last time I know for sure we played Lovington for homecoming was in 1988, my senior year. We had tied 0-0 the year before for the state title. We were fired up that Friday night and took it to the Wildcats.
By the way, that 2010 team was something special. That offense was about as high powered as there has ever been in Artesia's history and that's saying something. Andy Lopez breaks the single season rushing record while Josh Houghtaling at QB throws for over 3400 yards and two receivers, Koby Caton and Dakota Watts both have over 1000 yards receiving (I believe the only time in Artesia history to have 2 over 1000 yards n the same season). The offensive line played outstanding to have that kind of production both in passing and rushing. They go into the playoffs with a 6-4 record and take down an undefeated & arguably one of the best teams in their history, Goddard team (fell to them in district play) then defeated the undefeated and probably best team in their history, Aztec Tigers in the championship game.
Thanks for sharing that video - great memories!!!

2010 was a special team/year, seems they really hit another level once the playoffs hit. Goddard was the juggernaut that year for sure and expected to take it, Goddard had to visit Artesia for the semis and went home with their 1 and only loss, Aztec came the next week unbeaten, 1 and only loss. Artesia at home in the Playoffs, nothing like it, hard to beat. Good Memories. I caught both those games too. Here's to 2010

That 2010 season was a busy one.
I got to attend one game that year because I was working two jobs. But every Friday night I was listening to the game in my truck delivering pizza in one ear, and listening to my crazy ex girlfriend in the other.
BUT that one game will live on in my memory forever. The crazy ex’s mother had a extra ticket to the championship game. Center section. 15 row. I’ve never sat in that section ever for a game.
Seeing Aztec I was blown away by the sheer size. I knew there record and I knew we were out matched on paper.
Aztec had blown out all but two opponents. They had us in size. They had us in points allowed and points scored. They had one definite division one player. On paper they were impressive.
But this isn’t no ordinary town with ordinary kids. Artesia Bulldog Pride stands for something in this state. Bulldogs DO NOT lay down and die for No one!
I watched that game with sheer joy in my heart. I hadn’t had many good times that year and just seeing that game made going to work that afternoon into the evening a lot better.
That’s why when all the hype for Belen coming to town a few years back seeing all the post on fb about us not being ready for there running game I really wanted to tell them don’t think we can snap that undefeated streak. The Bulldogs do it a lot more then people think.
And Randle Your highlights to that Goddard rocket game and Aztec game the songs were perfect fit. Anytime I talk about this site and your highlight videos I always use those two show off your talents bud. Your very good.
That was a great team and was fun to watch them win that trophy 🏆
Next year is just around the corner guys fun times to be had you ready?

thanks I appreciate that.
I remember that state game, weather was fairly warm as I remember, Aztec was bigger but I think we wore them out on that turf, too much speed and I remember their big guy Hagerty cramping up on the sideline, had him playing both ways, watch at 4:48 I think that was the 1 and only time he got close to Houghtaling and Josh got the best of him lol. Ball was coming out quick and in a hurry most plays, speed killed them that day.
and yes ready for 2019 Bulldog Football

I remember the beginning of that game when the tigers took the field and were all hyped up smacking there chest like some kind of macho beefed up bully. All I could think was this game would be such a great movie. Lol big bad Aztec bringing all there fans had that ego just busting out there helmets and Artesia doing what the Bulldogs do and play there hearts out.
The las cruces highlight video is also a great one. Breaking Benjamin was a great selection for that one too boss.
