I understand your complaint Crispy..... but the seeding criteria is clear.... and we knew them going into the game.
Since Alamo finished ahead of us in District play- we could not be seeded until Alamo was seeded. They’re record of 3-7 obviously gave them a low seed #9, we got in right after that at #10. If Alamo would have fell all the way to #12, we wouldn’t have got in at all. So we actually got lucky to make it after a fourth place finish in District.

IMHO I really think the team selection should be teams that have won 6 or more games.

A team that finishes 5-5 and dead last in district has no business in the playoffs. Just being honest. It needs to go back to only DC and RU make the playoffs. Playoffs are earned, not given as consolation prizes.

Question why does NM started seeding teams? What happened to the District champion and runner up making the playoffs?

Is Bill Moon still the head FB coach at Capital? I remember talking to him in 1990 before the Bulldogs went up there for a playoff game. Moon has a law degree but wanted to coach football.
Yes it Bill Moon. He hasn't change since then. Still looks the same. Went to Rio Rancho when it first opened up in the late 90's, then went to Santa Fe High, then to Espanola then back to Capital.

Capital is champ of their district winning all district games. Del Norte's only district loss was to Capital. Del Norte is the RUNNER UP. Del Norte didn't get chosen for the playoffs. We made it by being 4th in our district. I bet there are some folks up there scratching there heads on that one!!

Has Artesia ever played Capital? Last time was in 1993 in the playoffs, Artesia won 26-6 Also in 1990, Playoff Game. Artesia 14-7 I bet Rick covered those games.

Due to the rules of the NMAA playoff seeding I think they did the best they could. If Artesia would have beaten Alamogordo there's ZERO chance Alamogordo gets into the playoffs. But since Artesia lost they have to be behind Alamogordo due to rules 1 (Finish in regular season district play) & 2 (Head to Head). And of course the NMAA, and the rest of the state, can't imagine a playoff without Artesia being involved. But Artesia got in due to their history and much earned respect. There's no other team in the state that finishes 5-5, 0-3 in district and last place in district but gets in. But the NMAA knows that Artesia is probably the 5th or 6th best team in the state, but simply cannot put them there. Believe me, the NMAA didn't want to put Deming at 5 but didn't really have a choice. If Artesia would've won my money says they're the #5 seed.
