I posted Calpreps just for FYI. It also said Artesia would beat Carlsbad. It goes to show the truth lies on the field beginning with game plan, good coaching and the players themselves and not computers

The NMAA seeded it according to the criteria, that is all they can do. The criteria is flawed but it applies to all teams equally. The best way to beat the system is to win, it is the only thing you can control. Under the old system we are playing basketball this week. I don’t really care where we get seeded, each week you have to go out and play good football. It’s win or go home now. The Friday Night lights will determine who is #1 in the final poll of the season. I hope it is us. But win or lose “Its great to be a Bulldog!”

District Champ and District runner up is easy and simple.
But We would have been playing basketball last year too, all 3 district teams were in the semis last year. So that rule would really stink imo if you're in district 4A.

Neither system is perfect. Seeding bad as it can be sometimes is probably a better system, but not by much. Either way you have to earn your way into the playoffs every year. It’s hard for me to say but if you’re 3rd or 4th place in your district you probably don’t belong in the playoffs. But until there is a better system we are where we are.

Heads uo on Capital. They have a small visitors side. It has trees that block you if you are on end. If you get there late you may have to park way off campus. They are cheap shot artists and will get several unsportsmanlike penalties. They will trash talk. Stop their stud RB and you crush them.

I hope the defense can stop their stud RB Gio Munoz he's good.Artesia won the game.

While I AM "overjoyed" we are still playing, (even with a winless district record),,,I shudder to think how many, many calls that NMAA has been getting from the runners ups and teams with lots better records than us? I think that a team that gets in due to "Deserving" is a CF waiting to become. There is no doubt that NMAA will address this after the playoffs and there will not be any more "Deserving" placings being handed out henceforth. Even tho, I love my Bulldogs, it is the right thing to do because,,,,WHAT IF,,,there is another "Deserving: team up north that kicks us out of any placings in the future? The playoffs should be District Champions and runner ups regardless of records. The playoffs HAVE to mean something for every team. As many of Ya'll know we do not enjoy a very good reputation up north,,,,I'm wondering how many,,"THey Cheated and payed off the referrees" there have been thrown out since the brackets were released,,,,,,,,lol.

Chit,,forgot this,,,,My scheme for Capital would be to assign one defensive player to tackle the running back every play, with apppropriate substitutions, and do it EVERY play until the end of game. The game I distinctly remember us doing that was against Los Lunas and their BIG, Strong running back #45,,I think they referred him as "the Bull or Monster or something like that. He had been running over everybody else in the state, had numerous yardage,,,,until he met the Bulldog Defense. You can see the film where he was one tired player by the end of the 3rd quarter. He was held scoreless in the fourth and pretty much ineffective on offense. IT CAN BE DONE,,!!

Will KSVP be live-streaming the Capital game?
Also, how's the Bulldog volleyball team doing this year?

Here is a link to the NMAA selection process video which was shown prior to the seeding show. It actually starts about 12:30 in. I guess if someone wanted to challenge the seedings, they could take the time and research it, it's all public other than the coach's input. I thought it was interesting.
#1 Seed or #10 Seed, if you take out coaches and program direction and blame and finger pointing and all the other things, you are left with boys playing football Friday night. I think they will be ready and I hope everyone will support them.
Go Dogs!

I support the players, it's the coaching I question. I think Artesia was placing the hurt on Goddard initially however something changed. Last year in the semi game at halftime it 21 to 7 Artesia and somehow they made adjustments and beat the better team. IMO and as a former senior league baseball coach, coaching includes building confidence it is one of the fundamentals

All I can do about it is cheer them on, so that's what I'll do. Go Dogs!!

Rick, there was a 3-way tie for 1st in district in volleyball. Due to points/games won the girls ended up 3rd and are playing Lovington tonight to start out the district tournament.
