Well, I sure hope NObody ever brings up all State games to be played in Albuquerque!! I do not remember how many phone calls and letters I made with Dusty Young with NMAA as well as with many in Farmington. I sent several "Letters To The Editors" to many Newspapers all over New Mexico, ESPECIALLY Farmington, cautioning the people to "BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR" because you will never again get to play a State Game on your HOME turf as you will always be "VISITORS" to all the northern teams, IN Albuquerque! If I remember correctly that was the year of a potential state game with Farmington against an Albuquerque team, and Farmington had the advantage of being "Owed TO" AND,,be gauraneed to play at home. When the folks in Farmington realized what they were fixing to give up,,,,that right there meant Farmington WOULD "HAVE" TO travel to Albuquerque to play an Albuquerque team! I think things started to Happen pretty quick and NMAA kinda dropped it at least for that year. The BULLDOG BOWL will always be our 12th man so let's keep it that way. GO BULLDOGS!! ON TO #31

Why do people get fired up over the topic of neutral site title games? It will not happen anytime soon. Sally Marquez, Dusty Young and others at the NMAA have Zero say in where title games are held. The NMAA puts forth the wishes of the schools. The Superintendents on the board decided everything the NMAA puts out. The title games at a central location won't happen because it would not make the NMAA much money if at all. They pay schools a few to host to cover costs. They are not going to pay one of the university $80,000+ to put on the games. They would also have to make sure they cover all the workers like security, parking attendants, police, emergency paramedics and such. It costs a ton of money to host a title game at one of the universities. Go to the NMAA website and look at meeting minutes. You will learn that the schools control everything. If you want to write letters then write them to our rep on the board. I think you can go back numerous years. Back to when Mike Phipps was the Board Chair. You would be surprised how votes went. It shows how each board member voted for what issues. So off to Farmington we go. We will drive up on Friday. Piedra Vista is much better than we could ever expect. They are the real deal. I hope we don't take them lightly.

Over 70 percent of New Mexico’s head coaches favor the centralization of state finals and playing them in Albuquerque – most likely at University Stadium – according to a recent survey conducted by the New Mexico Activities Association.

That article was written last year after the spring season. Nothing new this year to add.

Yup article is a couple years ago, but I think it shows the sentiment is out there. I wonder if the Lovington coach still thinks that way after hosting last year, and Heath a lovington guy himself, cmon Heath lol. A few have moved on but it's interesting to see some of their thoughts. Artesia & Lovington have the most to lose as we've been in these games way more than most, this is one instance when the cats and dogs need to have each other back
