Looks like we won't have to leave Artesia for the Playoffs.

Looks like we won't have to leave Artesia for the Playoffs. where do we sit with Valley?? There is a decent chance they could upset PV….. unlikely, but they are comparable enough that it’s possible.

Last year game with Valley was the 1st ever meeting between us, since the playoff game last year was a quarterfinal it doesn't count to who owes who. Only Semis & State Game.
So us being the higher seed would get to host if it's Valley.

I just read a qoute from last year where Coach Maupin mentioned that the quarterfinal game with Valley was the first ever meeting between the two schools. NMAA rules/regs state that the location is determined on whatever school owes who from a previous playoff match-up, unless the game was a quarter final game, then the higher seed gets the home game. Therefore, Valley would hve to come to the Bowl. Does anyone have history of games with Highland or Los Alamos?

ha ha no worries.
We got the guaranteed Home Game so Los Alamos/Highland either one coming here.
I know we last played Los Alamos in 2006 semifinal there. I think we last played Highland for state in 1966 at Morris Field, I believe.

Just like any NFL game, whoever shows and rises up as a whole will win. Game plan and execution from the players. Neither team overpowers the other in my opinion, it’s dependent on who is swarming to the ball, hitting with no fear, playing smart w running of their routes/coverages, etc. Dogs have to play Higland/Los Alamos, PV first. First things first and never stop improving or getting hungrier for the win. Like I said, just my opinion💪🏽🏈

I looked up my preview of the season and if we are going to beat Roswell, I still stand by this quote that I posted in June. “Inside slot is the huge question mark. Not a single senior in the bunch. Couple kids looking for playing time that came up in the system playing at different positions are trying to learn at warp speed. My opinion this is the make/break spot for the 2023 season. Will the young bucks develop by playoff time? This is a very difficult position to pick up on the fly, and vital to the offenses’ success!”

That will be key as well as the o line blocking well to give a little more breathing room for Franky.

Does anyone know anything about Highland or Los Alamos? I’m thinking Los Alamos will take that game but that’s 100% pure guessing.

Looks like Los Alamos throws the ball more than they run, I watched the video of the game the lost to Valley (26to 23), I saw they running an option (straight snap to QB in shotgun, he rolls out and the tailback follows for a pitch. Average speed, no burners. Highland has a pretty good running back, however I don’t think they are good overall as they beat Belen by 2 points this season. That’s all I have heard or seen.

Either team won’t know what hit them next week, and I’m sure will be star struck in the Bulldog Bowl. I expect to see Los Alamos - they do have some speed. The kid they option to, is the kid that has kept Juan Diego Duran from winning state in track the last two years. Very fast!!

Dogs D better stick that running back in the mouth even if he gets or doesn’t get the pitch He’s fast then, I couldn’t really guage it due to knowing Valley’s defense probably isn’t that fast

I kind of figure it's going to be los alamos. Looks like it will be streamed on the NFHS Network, of course you got to pay there.
I haven't even thought of LA Football since 2006 semi-finals, they had a good RB Ruben Martinez he went on to NMSU and they ran the triple option but they ran into one of the best Artesia teams ever and we put them out 34-15. Did a good job of holding that offense down, we hadn't seen that before. One of the things I always remember about there, at least my experience was how nice the LA people welcomed us in, they were happy to play Artesia and have us come there, small stadium and there was a huge line to get in before the game, very pretty up there, my only time being up there.
LA Coach now Garrett Williams been there about 8 years now, he played at ENMU with my cousin Jimmy he knows him some and talks to him every now and then. Seems like he's got a good team but yeah coming to Bulldog Bowl that will be something they haven't seen before, like a tree headed for a buzz saw.
