www.soonersports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/070511aaa.htmlThis was also on the Channel 13 news last night. No one else in the Albuquerque media seemed to notice. BTW, there's a nice article on Landry and Whitney in today's Daily Oklahoman. It talks about how he planned out his proposal to her, which of course happened last month. And, even more predictably, the OSU fans who read the on-line Oklahoman took their usual cheap shots on the comments board below the story. Losers! (or as they say in Oklahoma in our fan base, Losurs).

I barely recognized Mike Sherman. He was a young prep writer when I lived in the OKC area around 1984-88.
The OKC paper always preferred the small-college grads, if they hired people out of Oklahoma colleges. Sherman is from UCO in Edmond (the former Central State University). One of the current OU beat-writers is an Oklahoma Christian grad, like current OU women's basketball coach Sherri Coale.
Even though the newspaper is owned by a family that has its name on the stadium in Norman, their long-time sports editor hated OU and didn't want to hire OU grads unless they were really cynical about their own school. That's not as bad as how it is in Albuquerque (they hire UNM grads, but they have to hate their own coaches, pretty much), but it's still weird.
Here's hoping that Whitney's statement that she wants to play her senior year means that Landry will also, and thus put all the passing records out of sight. I know he's projected in the Top 10 of most mock drafts, but he might want to take a shot at the Heisman (with Andrew Luck gone) and the top spot if he doesn't win this coming year's Heisman. But I guess I'm being selfish...
