Saw this in the Artesia Daily Press on Sunday i thought i post it on here, real nice of him to say something good about our community.
Manzano fan impressed with Artesia TO THE EDITOR:
I just wanted shares my impressions of the Homecoming game I attended at Bulldog stadium. I came down from Albuquerque to watch Manzano play as my son is a linebacker for the Monarchs. I have never been to a game in another city so this was a new experience for me. And what an experience it was. It was so refreshing to be in a town that appreciates football. The stadium was simply incredible and the atmosphere was ''electric''. Watching the Artesia players run out onto the field and do the ''dog pile'' was indeed impressive. I spoke with several fans and volunteers working the game. I even spoke briefly to the head coach of the Bulldogs. Everyone welcomed me to the game and was friendly and ''down to earth''. I truly feel that your town captures all the qualities of our ''American way of life''. I basically wanted to reach out and thank your community for the hospitality that made this such a positive experience for me and my son.

My wife and L'il Redhead had also never traveled to my L'il home town of Artesia but when she went she was very impressed too. Growing up in Santa Fe and in ABQ, she knew she was in a town where people are the friendliest. Thanks again Rapid.

The funny thing is that guy barely scratched the surface. All he saw was the bowl. If he saw the pit, the soccer/softball/baseball complex, the new library plans, the Derrick floor, the chase foundation scholarships, etc. he would really be surprised. Of course he saw the one constant and that's the friendly people. Great job Artesia, way to represent.
This story makes me think of Lovington and how they act everytime we travel over there. The visiter stands are always full and we want to sit on the end of the home side. They completely refuse to allow us to sit there and even hire security guards to police the area. Eventually we fill the other side and they have to allow us to sit. It's a fight every year. In fact, Ronnie Null thinks the whole thing is hilarious and it's like pre-game entertainment. Anyway, when we played Lovington a few Saturdays ago it was 104 degrees out there and I went over to the visiter side and invited them to come join us in the shade on the home side. Only a few came over.
