Last week Coaches Poll had #1 Roswell, #2 Goddard, #3 Artesia.
With Artesia knocking off Roswell I'm assuming it will look like this
#1 Goddard, #2 Artesia #3 Roswell.
I'll post the coaches poll once it's released.

MaxPreps Poll is pretty similar. Says Rankings updated Tuesday but shows updated yesterday. I'll double check it again tomorrow. I think this is it though.

Appears to me that with a few exceptions they are just voting for teams based on win/loss records. Wouldn't surprise me if half the coaches the vote in this poll couldn't tell you who won which game Friday night except for their own.

Just gotta beat Goddard. It occurs to me that Goddards schedule is weak. Los lunas is the team that is fairly strong, they won that one. The good Lord saved them from the beating Carlsbad was going to give them with the weather....Hopefully Artesia gives them that beating.

obviously strength of schedule doesn't figure in too much and frankly it never does in these polls (better off with easy schedule to climb these polls but that might not help you down the road on the football field) so I guess a 1 point victory over #1 seed don't get you much higher in maxpreps computer ranking.
Roswell and Artesia are pretty close in MaxPreps poll 16.9 to 16.6 but still, the range is wider in the coaches poll, figured it would at least have more logic with us switched at 2 & 3.
Not that big of deal it will work itself out just keep winning, but I just don't see the logic in either of these.

I agree Randall strength of schedule dosent mean much. The RR Rams probably had the toughest schedule in the state in 6a. Not as talented as the recent past, they have won 3 games in a row they should with a last play win over Cibola. If they beat Volcano Vista this Friday, a win may move them up in the rankings a little because they play Cleveland last game a will probably lose. Best team I saw this year was Pine Creek, Colorado who easily beat RR in the second game.

Umm... OK. Neither of these polls are worth a S---. NMPREPS predictions have been the most accurate over the last 10 years but are not considered. These are MY calculations, though not official, maybe the most accurate.
1. Artesia...............5-3, 1-0 *Lost to Hobbs, Cleveland & Carlsbad 2. Goddard.............7-0-1, 1-0 *No losses, tie with Carlsbad 3. Roswell..............6-2, 0-1 *Lost to Hobbs & Artesia 4. Los Lunas...........5-2, 1-0 *Lost to Roswell & Goddard 5. Piedra Vista........5-3, 1-0 *Lost to Los Lunas, KC & Roswell 6. Belen................5-3, 1-0 *Lost to Artesia, PV & Roswell 7. Deming..............4-3-1, 1-0 *Lost to Artesia, Goddard & Belen 8. Santa Teresa......6-2, 0-1 *Lost to Goddard & Deming 9. Valley................5-3, 0-1 *Lost to La Cueva, PV & Belen 10. Valencia...........6-2, 0-1 *Lost to Santa Teresa & Los Lunas 11. Farmington.......4-4, 1-0 *Lost to Bayfield CO, Belen, Durango CO, KC, 12. District 2-5A Champion ^Los Alamos......5-3, 1-0 *Lost to Taos, Hope Christian, Valencia

I honestly don't have any problems with Goddard being #1 I mean they are undefeated and a common opponent we lost too while they tied them. I can see some logic in that or at least the computer figuring it that way. There are things the computer can't figure though, Willingham at Carlsbad then blowing a 37-14 lead in Hobbs. It is what is and you are what you are, but I'll give us the benefit of a doubt they would be my #1. They can prove it tomorrow on the field is what's best of all, we shall see. I do like those rankings BDC, maybe you should come out with weekly rankings instead

Forget the rankings Forget the schedules Forget the old games Forget the comparing
Tomarrow night Goddard would love nothing more then to put a monkey wrench into this season. Tomarrow night dogs need to run out there and handle business. I watched a different team last Friday night. They fought and fought and fought. There was no let’s take the foot off the gas and Tomarrow it will have to be the same. Go to Roswell Bulldogs and take care of yours. This is the second season and one game in two more to go.
HANDLE IT BULLDOGS! We believe in you!!!

Defense going to have to step up against Goddards run. Trent is going to have to continue passing accuracy....the dogs should win

I thought the 'Dogs would win this game easy. Some may say penalties were the difference, it was lopsided for sure, but giving credit where it is due, the Goddard QB "tore" the 'Dog defense a new a$$-hole.

What happens if Roswell beats Goddard? Incidentally, the better overall team lost tonite.

Final Goddard 31 Artesia 28
I admit not what I expected either, good game again this week but we come up short this time. Had a couple stops late in 4th but then we couldn't convert to points Goddard did on the final drive. I'm suprised they kicked the FG, figured might as well go for the Touchdown on the 3 or 4 yard line, the way they ran it, would seem just as easy to win that way. Tried calling Time out before the kicker put it through the uprights but guess the Ref didn't see it but oh well that's how it went can't be mad at that, they made the plays to get there.
District race will be an interesting 3 Team Battle, when was the last time that happened? if Rockets win they will lock it up and the #1 seed. If Coyotes win, I guess it goes to points ?
Just have to regroup and push on. It can be done, but the road might be a little tougher now.

What happens if Roswell beats Goddard? Incidentally, the better overall team lost tonite. Roswell would go back to #1. Goddard and Artesia would meet in a semi-final to play Roswell in the championship game. Can't see any other scenario than that, unless some northern team surprises us all.
