In class 5A gentlemen this district is the measuring stick for football. Top tier teams like Artesia Goddard and Roswell the last three years have been on point in the 5A realm to dominate. This district is always tuff. That’s what makes it so much fun. When district rolls around in a month these teams will be ready to rumble guaranteed.

I am not worried about our offense at all.......offense is clicking as well as it ever has since Landry was here. I don't think there is a team in the state than can shut our offense down. Now defense? ? We have had 2 great defensive performances since we gave up 48 pts to Carlsbad.......we shut down Hobbs and Belen......but how good are Hobbs and Belen, really? I would like to believe that what I like to call our "post Willingham departure blues" are over! But I am still not convinced, even after stellar defensive performances against Hobbs and Belen. We go to Deming next week....that game won't tell us much either. Big Bad Cleveland comes to town the week after that......now, if we hold Cleveland to 21 pts or less....I will be convinced! If we lose to Cleveland, it will be a loss of the 63-49 variety. If we lose, it will NOT be because of our offense. Hey Bulldog Defense.....you have shown me reason to have hope these last 2 games. But you gotta show me more!

OK Randall! Now in my last post, there is an emoticon that showed up. I did NOT put it there! And the very weird thing is......it showed up at a very appropriate place! If I were going to put an emoticon in my post, that is exactly where I would have put it. BUT......I didn't. You playin' games, lol?
First sentence of my 2nd paragraph....I put 3 question marks in a row. Then when I posted it, the middle ? just "magically" becomes a frowny face......hmmmmm!

But you gotta show me more! It's going to be the power run team that we need to stop in my opinion, we all know who that is. Besides cleveland, that will be tough no matter what, they like to pound it, they will be bigger/stronger and faster just how it is, no shame in going down against them even if the score is lopsided, (not conceding defeat but odds are not with us on that one) but Goddard, that's our equal their bread and butter is the power running game, we will need to get several guys to the ball and tackle well. Hate to get ahead of myself, that's what I see coming down the line. I'm no defensive coordinator, but I sell my soul to stop the run, make them have to throw some passes to convert some 3rd downs. I'm not sure on Roswell, if that had Carrasco again they would be extremely tough on the run, I think they are more balanced though in their scheme, that's what made them dangerous last year, skill guys were very good. It's going to be interesting, outside our district, all I see is Los Lunas being a threat as it is now.
