“ Eddie Nuñez, UNM Director of Athletics, and Bob Davie, head football coach, have mutually agreed to part ways at the conclusion of the 2019 football season. Davie, who was hired in late November of 2011, will coach the team this week and in the season finale against Utah State on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at Dreamstyle Stadium”. Bout time! Need someone to lead!! INM just has to be better than what they have been.

UNM I think went for coach Mike Leach before settling for Davie.

UNM job is one of the toughest jobs in the country. Simply not enough D-1 players in the state, and many of them get poached by bigger programs

Either a place for a young coach to get his chance and move on or an old coach to die... either of them darn near impossible task. Albuquerque is a terrible place to have to recruit to, play to an empty stadium..... the list being endless.

I would be at all the Lobo games if Harrell was hired

I saw few things on twitter, UNM TE Marcus Williams texted his old coach Heath Ridenour to apply for it. Doubt they would pick a HS coach but he wouldn't do any worse than Davie, and would recruit NM kids.
Danny Gonzales said if the Lobos come knocking he would listen.

If Graham Harrell was coach he would attempt to recruit the best players. He wouldn't stay in New Mexico. He would attempt to get players from the great state of Texas and others as well

Get the best you can, but weren't they at their best when they Had McKamey, Dontrell Moore, Hank Baskett?
Just seems the kids are more vested in it that way, but the Elite Kids will always leave NM if they have the opportunity, that's a problem too but can't blame them.

There are only a handful of kids every year that can even come close to playing D1 football in the whole state and that's a good year.

I would like to see Mike Theisen, Air Force OC, get the job. UNM is easier to recruit to than AF. He would get lighter quicker offensive linemen that would help the run game. Dominick Bramante, the ex coach of the indoor team up here that won a couple of titles in their league, don't know much, don't like the indoor game, endorsed Heath Ridenour for the job.

I go to Albuquerque Isotopes games and in the 3rd inning they ask all service members to stand up, very few stand. In a crowd of 8000 you will get far less than 1% standing. I am not saying everybody has to serve and its right or wrong but check the athletes UNM gets vs AF. I am a big AF fan and I like the quickness of the team and they utilize their talent. I am curious why you think I am wrong.

Well I coached at the Naval Academy , which is the hardest Academy to get into which at minimum takes a 1350 SAT or more depending on the math you need.... far easier to recruit there than ANY other school that I coached at.And not that any of it is easy, just easier compared to. Easier to go into a kids home and sell the Academies and what the education is worth compared to going to UNM and Albuquerque. Air Force Academy is even easier since you can get into the prep school with a 950 . I would take the Air Forces record over the last 30 years vs UNM anyday, so much for those great athletes. I also have had good friends , Gary Patterson being one of them, that tells me what it is like to recruit at UNM. Gary also coached with me at the Naval Academy. Even though the requirements are extremely hard to get into the Naval Academy, it was easy recruiting compared to anywhere else I have ever been. It's all relative to who you are going to be playing and the type of kid you are recruiting and you have to do some things different on offense. So I speak from knowledge and actually recruiting at an Academy. My daughter also graduated from West Point. A good friend of mine is the head coach there now. You recruit the whole US at the Academy and don't give scholarships, they get appointments. So you can "sign 80 plus kids a year plus the prep school. So I think my experience might be more relevant than how many people stand up at a Isotopes game. I also played at Wyoming during the old WAC days and you don't want my opinion of NM during that time. Got recruited by Rocky Long (he was the DC at Wyo at the time), who probably did the best job with the UNM program...he was a great coach and a great recruiter. I am going to have to stop myself here.... because I could write a book on it.

There are too many clues to take an educated guess of who nobody is, he was a Quarterback with the cowboys. I agree he is someone I think kids would want to play for.
