This 1967 season is the very first season that Bulldog Bowl was open. The previous season......1966.......was played at Morris Field. 1967 State Championship between Artesia and Albq High was played in Albuquerque. Bulldog Bowl would not see it's first State Championship game until the following year....1968, the Bowl's 2nd season....between Artesia and Albq Sandia.

Those all-orange unis look red to me . . . must have something to do with the type of color film they used in the camera.
Do you have a roster of the 1967 Artesia squad?
Sudden Thought: This game pitted the Bulldogs against the Bulldogs.

Another dominate team the 66 Bulldogs, 12-0. I take it #31 and #44 were twins? Wow, this team ran 432 Trap very effectively! Always loved that play.

I'm thinking that might be the last varsity game ever played at Morris field. I'm not stating that as fact

I'm thinking that might be the last varsity game ever played at Morris field. I'm not stating that as fact I can verify that you ARE correct! 1966 State Title game vs Albq Highland was the very last varsity game ever played at Morris Field. Bulldog Bowl's inaugural season was the next year......1967. And the very first game ever played in The Bowl was against El Paso Bowie.

1964 Bulldogs. 11-1 defeat Albq Highland 20-6 Man #77 is a HUGE! SOB. Again they executed 432 trap to near perfection. I like it, I like it a lot.

Yeah he is BDC, not sure who that is, anyone know? unfortunately I don't have a roster for this year.
Also how good was LG Henderson during the 60's won 5 titles, this was his first in 64. He dominated the later half of that decade.
1964 11-1 1965 8-3 1966 12-0 1967 9-2-1 1968 12-0 1969 12-1-0
Played TX teams, also the biggest towns in NM, won and most times won big. I got a newfound appreciation for this era. Impressive.

Ronnie played for Texas Tech and was a police officer in Lubbock. I remember being in a store and listening to a couple of guys talking about officer Sowell and saying, "don't mess with Mr. Sowell, if you know what is good for you?" I know him as a gentleman.

I believe Mike Phipps is one of the guards. Need a roster if wee can find one. I'll work on that. I think Coach Phipps was a really good player. I can tell you from experience he was a great great football coach.

Coach Phipps was one of the 2 Captains. He was a fantastic trapping/pulling guard. I played against that team and played a Rover position and in wing set I would come up to line of scrimmage outside TE. they would fold block Sowell to the outside to block me. I weighed 140 he weighed 270. When game was over all I could do was sit in dressing room and try to figure how I got ran over by a dump truck
