Chris was a great friend of mine and a great guy (RIP), his dad George played running back in the 70s and little brother Jeremiah was a great running back for Cooper Henderson as well. We had some great times with Chris in high school. He was #76. Thanks Rapid

Thanks Rapid 1994 Artesia Bulldogs 12-1 They won the title in 1992, won the title again in 1993, and were again loaded heading into the 1994 season. The Bulldogs extended their winning streak to eight games to open the year with a (34-2) win over Ruidoso in the opener. They then would push the winning streak to over 10 with wins over Hobbs, Roswell High, and Goddard. Looked unbeatable once again, the Eddy County Rivalry Game paired the Bulldogs against rival Carlsbad and as we've seen the past the Cavemen somehow figured out how to stop Artesia in a (21-17) thrilling game. Though the rivalry game lost stung, the Bulldogs kept to their winning ways after week five loss. They beat Ruidoso in the play-offs (38-0), beat Bloomfield (36-8) in the semifinals, and beat the Brian Urlacher led Lovington (35-21) in the title game.

I got this article from Albuquerque sport page ...1975 The Sartans of Albuquerque St. Pius X want to avenge what must rate as the most humiliating defeat the school's grip squad has ever suffered. They'll get their chance this weekend when they Challenge Artesia for the Class AAA State football title. The No.3 ranked Sartans and The No. 1 rated and defending state champion Bulldogs earned their spots in the 1975 title game by posting semifinal playoff victories Friday night. The Sartans held off No. 2 ranked Tularosa (28-25) and Artesia dropped fired up No.6 rated Kirtland Central (28-18) in road games. The site, day and time for the title clash was to be determined over the weekend. It will mark the second time the two clubs have ever clashed. The first came in a regular season game in 1974 and it had all the makings of a super confrontation. The Sartans were the Class AAA defending state champions the Bulldogs were the powerful newcomers from the Class AAAA ranks. But the game never lived up to its billing as the Bulldogs dominated the Sartans to the tune of a (48-0) score. ''We're really looking for-ward to playing them. ''Pius coach Ray Giannini said after his club turned back Tularosa. ''They beat us (48-0) last year and that kind of took everything out of us. ''We have players on this team that played on that team last year. And, obviously, they're looking forward to playing Artesia again. We not only think we can beat them, we know we can if we play our kind of ball,''he said. The Sartans' game is a balanced attack that features the passing of Dan Mallak and the running of a stable of fine backs paced by John Helak. And that was what they used to edge Tularosa in a game Giannini said was the most exciting he's been involved with in his six years of coaching. Mallak fired TD passes of seven yards to Kirk Higgins and Statzula, while Helak scooted four yards to play dirt and Raoul Portillo dashed nine yards to the end zone to supply the Sartans' offensive firepower.Tularosa, led by the duo of halfback Ernie Luevano and quarterback Pat Garcia, kept the game's outcome in doubt in the final period as they had three opportunties to score but managed only one TD. Luevano, the state's leading scorer, needed 21 points to High School Results Alouettes meet Eskimos CAL GARY, ALIA (AP) By JTM MCELROY - AP Sport Writer...
