I watched parts and was very impressed with the Defense. Swarming to the ball, very few missed tackles. Some SLOBBERKNOCKERS HITS

Loved it! Thanks.
Who's that little RB (#24)? I'm too lazy to look it up.
And, are the players not using the field house? At the start, they're approaching the ramp from a different direction. Junior RB Jake Barrera. Yeah he is a good one, gave him a lot of opportunities this game and he didn't disappoint. I hope we continue to feed him the ball and run it, helps open up everything. BDC right on the field house, covid rules so they split up the team, some in field house, weight room etc. The covid rules are insane to me, but it's what we got to deal with. Heard Rex had a message for the team before the game, something to this effect, lets forget about the past 2 games, lets forget about covid, lets go do the dog pile and go out there and have fun. I thought that was a spot on message, exactly what they needed to hear.

Scores around the State.
Goddard 50 Lovington 0 (I was shocked Lovington did not score, they have some very good skill players, so how good is this Goddard team? They look to be the best in class 5a, too bad we can't see all this play out, obviously like to play them again just to see. They got Roswell High next, one of their inner demons they need to overcome lol, we shall see.)
Mayfield 28 Deming 7 (Trojans 1-1 after loss to Cruces Dawgs, any thoughts on Mayfield BDC? I think a Bowl game with them in Cruces or Artesia would be pretty cool)
Rio Rancho 27 Clovis 14 (Clovis is now 1-2 and Rams 2-0, Rams and Storm next, should be a good game for the battle of the city.)
Cleveland 36 Centennial 21 (Cleveland now 2-0)
Los Lunas 31 La Cueva 20 (Los Lunas 1st game of the year, take down LaCueva, not too shabby)
Alamogordo 24 Silver 6 (Our District Opponents are 3-0 but wins over Bloomfield, Ruidoso, Silver, play Deming next, wouldn't mind a game with them after a defeat by them in the Bowl last year)
Carlsbad 27 Hobbs 21 (Cavemen defeat Hobbs, Eagles 0-3 our next opponent in Hobbs, of course I'll have game thread for this on Monday)
That's all I got of note, anyone else got any games put them on here.

Thanks for these updates, Randall. Interesting how Cleveland has become the top team in the state (I don't mean that in a bad way). Wonder how close the City of Rio Rancho is to having to build another high school?

Rio Rancho has to be close, there schools are near the top of the class.... I think Hobbs is the only school with a higher enrollment than RR schools.
Goddard is supposed to be extremely good for the next couple years. But Los Lunas seems to have their number. Goddards power run game works well against most of the state- but Los Lunas always seems to be big enough and strong enough to neutralize their game.
I think some interesting bowl games would be: Los Lunas v Goddard Mayfield v Farmington Artesia v Alamo Roswell v Capital

Randall used it earlier in one of his posts in this thread. I must be out of the loop, not sure what y'all are talking about.

There are no playoffs this year.... therefore no state championship. Teams merely get a one game match up after their regular season schedule = Bowl game

Who will play who. The NMAA will announce the "Bowl Game" March 24th (Wednesday). They will decide who plays who. My understanding is they do not want any over night travels so they will schedule the games with in a certain distance.

Scores around the State. Mayfield 28 Deming 7 (Trojans 1-1 after loss to Cruces Dawgs, any thoughts on Mayfield BDC? I think a Bowl game with them in Cruces or Artesia would be pretty cool) Mayfield had about 60 players suited out. They two platooned. Offensively they tried to spread the ball out. We had success stopping them in the air when they wanted to put it up for grabs. However, they abandoned the air attack and went into the old school bone formation and ran double lead 6/7 hole. They were able to wear us down (we had 8 players going both ways) and eventually took advantage of our lack of depth. We were able to identify when they were going into their bone formation (through film study). They would sub in #85 into the TE and #64 would line up in the FB position. Any time these two would check in it was a guarantee that they where going to run right at you. They were big on the OL/DL. Skilled players were good athletes, nothing out of this world. Our conditioning played a factor but then again, the games I've seen the last two weeks EVERYONE (yes, this includes Artesia) are out of shape. Everyone is out of shape to say the least.

Especially if NMAA is trying to find competitive “Bowl Games”.....

Where does that leave teams with ony 3 game scheduled like RR? If the "Bowl" games are going to be the first weekend of April I guess it dosent matter but I would like to have seen them have a fourth game.

Las Cruces could be a day trip, some reason I don't think we will get that one. Lovington an easy call, we shall see.

That shouldn't matter Mike, lots of teams out there getting fewer games because they had to fight the system I guess you could say, before they could play so some were a week behind. They should get a bowl game.
