Well the new season begins today. “Bulldog days” kick off and soon after, spring football. Lots of questions this year. We have a lot of returners, but some big holes to fill as well. (Notably: Taylor, Barrera, Pando and Johnson). I’m interested to see how it all pans out….. Ive heard through the grapevine that some defensive kids are possibly wanting to move into offensive roles, and maybe the QB spot is up for grabs. It will be an interesting off season. Replacing Barrera is my biggest concern- not sure we have anything close to that caliber in the pipeline. Sure wish Travis Wilkinson had a brother this age🤣

I'm looking forward to next year.
I think a full off-season year with new staff will do us good and give us another leg up going into next year, coaches will be familiar with all the kids and vice versa from the get go. I think I heard all the sophs stayed out except for 2, that's pretty good I think. The bar was set high last year, can we build on that and possibly bring it home next year?
The objective to win state, we really need to win the District I think, a 3rd or 4th finish where would that put you in seeding ? be a hard road I think. A 2nd place finish actually worked in our favor this year, Karma maybe ha ha but I don't think it would be that way next year. Mayfield was a tough out this year. A potential rematch in the playoffs if we had the higher seed we could secure a home game again, obviously we are set with Roswell and Goddard. Home vs Roswell, and @ Goddard. This district will be brutal, still hard to believe to me, nothing in the state comes close to this district, I think you got next year preseason top 4 in here, that's crazy.
Yes some key spots to fill, most important to me is QB, they can effect the game in so many ways. I think we got 2 good kids competing at the spot, whatever happens I'm sure we see them both contribute next year and make plays on the field. Yup it will be interesting, be another exciting year.

Oh and I don't think we see anyone the likes of Travis Wilkson again or for a long time That guy was legit Beast Mode. He ran through defenses like a hot knife through butter ha ha

Curious if the off-season training/workouts are similar to what they were in the past or if Maupin has changed anything for Bulldog Days. Is it still as difficult? Inquiring minds want to know lol.

His running motion reminded me of Jim Brown 40 of the Cleveland Browns. Also noted some great OL blocking!

The great Jim Brown, IMO the best athlete this country has ever had, was number 32.

My memory isnt good anymore, where did Travis go to college and how did that work out?. His upright running style is a little like Jim Brown but Jim used to attack tacklers with a forearm shiver. Anybody wants to know about Jim watch Spike Lee's Jim Brown All American, its an hour long documentary. The first half hour is all football. Also go to YouTube and look at his greatest runs. Notice the lineman and how they block downfield, dont see that today.
Also on Cleveland, MaxPreps named their linebacker a 2nd team all american. Soph Sullovan Shuratt or something like that, help me out with the name Randall.

My thoughts on Travis Wilkinson has always been that if he had played in the DFW area he would have had multiple offers from P5 conference teams. He was almost as good at his RB position as Landry was at his QB position, just never got quite the recognition that Landry did for whatever reason. Once in a life-time RB.

Thanks Thought you had accidently picked up the number of one of the greatest backs ever - Gayle Sayers who wore 40. Injuries kept him from being the greatest ever! While I don't know if I can argue with you about Jim Brown, names like Barry Sanders, Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith keep popping up in my mind as well.
