Reggie blasting his train horn from the press box! What was Reggie's last name anyway? Wonder what he's up to today, anybody know? Surely y'all remember Reggie and his horn.....it wasn't that long ago.

My favorite tradition we haven't seen for a few years is winning a state title! I hear good things pointing to a reunion with that tradition in the very near future! IGTBAB!

Reggie lives in Atoka I stand with him on the railing at home games, great guy still looks the same, still a welding, I can ask him about it. I’m sure he still has it.

[b My son is a junior this year, he heard at the field house or from a coach that they would be wearing a larger extent of black at home. They’re getting new uni’s , he bought his varsity orange with some black home jersey from last year. I guess that would be a tradition for those of us that played forcoach T.W. Harvey and Mike Phipps.

He seems happy with his station in life knowing he played in the pros and now doing things he really enjoys. THAT he did!!! He made it to "The Show"! Not many can say that. Would be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed that his NFL career didn't work out a little better. Had dreams of him maybe being the next Aaron Rogers......Drew Brees....etc. But no matter....he can say he started NFL games and completed TD passes in the NFL. And nobody can ever take that away from him. Loved the interview by the way! Here is a cool highlight video of his time with the Steelers......lots of good plays vs the Patriots in this video, I love that!

Thanks for posting the Steelers highlight videos of Landry. Really good stuff. It is too bad that Ikard and Lehman couldn't have some video like that during the interview. Maybe even a lead in to a commercial or coming out of commercials. Landry said a lot of the choices about playing was about timing. He said he probably would have done better if he had gone in the 2010 draft instead of playing at OU 2 more years. Wasn't bitter about it just what he felt. Also the interviewers seemed shocked that he would turn down a $1.5 million contract.

Yeah it was a good interview, really most I've ever heard him talk and give insight.
Will always be one of the all time great Bulldogs

Landry is what got me watching Artesia football….. I was an out of towner, but the buzz on this kid was just too big for me not to see it for myself. A very very good player that was obviously on another level throughout high school!! Loved following his career after high school as well…….
Couple side notes: why do so many of the Artesia greats leave the small town life? Of course I understand Landry. But I look in the record books or in the Bulldog hall of fame, and we should be seeing a lot of the next generation of Artesia royalty on the field. But those legacy kids are few and far between.
Next: Landry was fun too watch….. but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a high school QB as good as Taylor Null. The kid had it all…. And the most important attribute was how his teammates felt about him. My son was one of his receivers and would often tell me, he would run through hell and back if Taylor Null was leading him.

Good post and thoughts.
Yeah Landry senior year seems like every place was packed home and away to get a glimpse of Landry. The Sooner fan base is a pretty passionate bunch too, can remember several Okie's coming over just to watch a game.
As for the Artesia greats and generations on down, I think their is a decent mix honestly. The Houghtaling are doing their part for sure lol. The other part maybe law of nature, I'll pick on Coach Olivas, my daughter is good friends with his daughter, he has 3 girls, what can you do ? haha. Coach Maupin has 2 daughters now. Coach Andy Lopez just had a boy.
Taylor Null was pretty dang good, don't believe he went to camps or things like that, he was so busy anyways played all 3 sports here, but he could have been a D1 Qb somewhere. Did pretty good at UTPB, think he tried workout for Tech but just too many high profile qb's there.

I’m not trying to insinuate that at the end of the day Taylor was better than Landry. I’m just saying “at the high school level” Taylor was as good as I’ve ever had the privilege to watch. Obviously Landry excelled way after HS.
