I feel like last year was the best team since 2007......and we went 6-4 not counting the playoffs. Won the title, but still lost 4 games. I haven't heard that much about this year's team but what I have heard doesn't sound that impressive. We lost a lot of leadership and also we lost a lot of speed. Other than that I haven't really heard much.
@lovington.......WIN!
Hobbs................Loss. We lost to Hobbs for the first time since forever last year. Bruce Dollar was part of the reason. I think that Coach Dollar is getting Hobbs turned around. Remember, he is the same coach that took Alamogordo the the championship game in 2006 where they lost to Mayfield. All Coach Dollar does is win where ever he goes. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Hobbs become one of the top 5A programs in the state under his leadership. People will be talking about Hobbs the same way they talk about Mayfield, LaCueva and Clovis. But then, there is that basketball thing in Hobbs, and I totally understand that. Have to compete with basketball. But, I think the days of chalking up Hobbs as an automatic win are just about over.
Manzano......Loss. Sure would like to beat them at home this year, but I just don't see it.
@deming......WIN!
@carlsbad......WIN!
@las Cruces....WIN! Repeat of last year. They were way down last year and we beat them pretty bad. We should win again this year, but it will be closer.
Clovis......Loss! Repeat of last year.
Goddard.....WIN! I almost said "loss" on this one, but we have them at home this year. I think that home field might be the deciding factor in this one.
El Paso Cathedral......WIN! Like Coach Harvey over in Plains said, "The Bulldogs will beat Cathedral like they stole something". They will come down the visitors ramp, look around at all the sights and sounds and fireworks, and the atmosphere. They ain't never seen anything like that in El Paso. They will be at a 21 point disadvantage before the game even starts.
@roswell.......WIN! They have really got problems at Roswell High. I don't see us losing to them for a VERY long time.
So I see us going 7-3. At least that is they way I am going to vote. But to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up another loss (or 2) during the course of the season. I think that is much more likely than picking up a couple of extra wins. I am voting 7-3, but 5-5 would not totally shock me. The Eddy County War is not really predictable, and who knows what Goddard and Sam Jernigan are going to do, so those 2 games could flip.

my 2 cents. @lovington-both state champs and lost some key players. I see things going back to the norm, dogs by a couple touchdowns. Saw a new website for the Cats too www.lovingtonwildcatsfootball.com check it out. Win Hobbs-I differ here crispy, I really think we should have won last year, but we didn't. I don't see us losing the home opener for whatever reason, I just think we will pull it off. Will be a good test for us though, Hobbs will run the ball every play with that big RB Mackey, would love to see us stack everybody on the line and go for Mackey lol, not many surprises in their game but they execute it well. Win Manzano-We used to have pretty good luck against Albq schools but Manzano has had our number, I think the trend continues and we have a tough time with the Monarchs. Loss @deming-Gotta go with the History again and say the dogs win this one easy. Win @carlsbad-6 years straight we have won, Carlsbad got a few playmakers back, pretty good young QB and a good RB Galindo and are at home. This could be tough but I'll go with the trend and say we Win once again. Win @las Cruces-We did beat them at home last year but in Las Cruces has been a different story. Loss Clovis-I really don't know how Clovis will look this year, they have beat us 4 times straight, been a couple close games in that time too. I say it's close but we fall short. Loss Goddard-hmmm, you got to think Goddard would be favored with the skill players they have back, I say a tough loss for now. El Paso-From what I hear and see this EP team is not too good and should be an easy Win. @roswell-I hear Roswell will be better and maybe they will, they had an easy schedule last year, not sure about this year but I still think we will have the upper hand on them. Win I guess that comes out to 6-4 like last year, obviously I hope we win them all but that's how I see it as of today. Not real sure what Artesia will look like until I see them on the field, maybe we could suprise like Goddard did last year and run the tables in the regular season after losing some good players who knows. Hopefully with the strong schedule we get better every week, make the playoffs and make our stand like some past teams have done. Looking forward to it.

I was watching via proview the north south game last evening and one of the broadcaster predicted an Artesia/Aztec repeat in the state championship game in December. Unfortunately the south lost 15 to 14 but it was a good game. In my opinion if Josh would have stayed in the game more I think the score would've been different and the south would have won the game.

@lovington-A win but its going to be close. Lots of pride in them wildcats.
Hobbs- A win but not easy. Hobbs has one bruiser of a running back.
Manzano-Loss! Always tuff playing a quality, well coached class 5A team.
@deming- Win! 55-0 Who scheduled them anyways?
@carlsbad-Loss. Carlsbad has a much improved team from last year. Lots of returners.
@las Cruces-Loss! Bulldawgs are freaking loaded this year. One of the favorites for a Class 5A championship. Will probablly be ranked #2 behind Mayfield.
Clovis-Win! By now Artesia starts getting into its groove being they have to replace a ton of people. Clovis is kinda an unknown but will let you know more after they scrimmage las Cruces here in a couple weeks.
Goddard-Win! A close game and could go either way. Artesia only cause its in the bulldog bowl.
El Paso-Win! Dont know much about el paso but looks like they will be a top 15 team in El Paso.
@roswell - Win! Ever since Bradley left way back in they day, the coyotes have been playing football like baby kittens.

Hey Randall, Hobbs will have a passing game this year, I have already heard! My nephew will be QB this year, 6'3" about 205? He can throw the ball really well and Hobbs will throw alot more than normal. Mackey is back and they have 3 others running backs that are supposed to be really good. I was told I had to sit on Hobbs side, wear a black and gold shirt and root for Hobbs! I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Randall, I voted, I just did not go through the whole schedule like you guys, but for the record I voted for the 6-4. I think the Dogs will be right in the thick of things and at least make the semi-finals again. Once you get there, anything can happen, just like last year. Go Dogs, Bring home #28!!!!!!

Oh I see, you username used to be jimmy that's what it showed who voted. I thought that was my uncle jimmy instead. Oh really bgp, I remember you telling me that before. Your a true bulldog fan then, won't even root for your own family ha ha, but they probably disowned you anyways ha ha jk. Yeah Hobbs is supposed to have 3 decent backs, Coach Dollar usually has a trio of backs that can run the ball.

I don't know what to think about this season. I haven't seen any of the passing games. I have been so busy at work that I haven't even made it to a practice yet. 6-4 sounds like a reasonable prediction for the season. Ask me again after the home opener against Hobbs. I think we'll have a better idea of what we can expect the rest of the season after that game.
I just want to see us stuff someone's running game and not just make them abandon it because they are 2 touchdowns behind. Maybe it's the Bears fan in me, but I'm really pulling for our defensive guys to have a great year. I would love to see those guys get some glory.

OK, wanted to see the dogs in action before i made a comment here.
i predict a 7-4 season and at least 2 more wins in the playoffs
Lovington.........W Hobbs...............W (we win without mackey running the ball) Manzano...........L Deming.............W Carlsbad...........W Las Cruces........W Clovis................L Goddard............L EPC...................W Roswell.............W
This season will be building season for the dogs. They have some standout talent but it will take a few games to gel. The clovis and goddard game are up in the air. I put them as losses only because of previous years. Goddard will be stacked with seniors wanting revenge for last November here in the bowl. I pray our guys stay healthy. I look forward to another exciting year of Artesia Bulldog Football!!!!
