4th and 5th Grade do play tackle if I'm not mistaken, younger ages is flag football in Artesia. Roswell has the youth tackle football starting at age 7 and I guess teams from Dexter also play in it. Always been curious the pros and cons of youths playing tackle football at a young age, i've talked to texas oil about this some too, it's not really an option for my kid yet so we play soccer in the fall, but may give it a shot once he reaches 4th or 5th. Roswell youth season just wrapped up, been wanting to watch the young kids play just to see what it's like but haven't had the time but I do read up on it. www.chavescountysports.org/report/?p=40568Anyways hope that helps.

Yes that is tons of help. Here in Clovis they can start tackle as young as 4yrs old. My boy is in 2nd grade and started at age 6. I think 5 is way to young...Thanks for you reply.

You bet, my son is in 2nd grade too, texas oil twins are the same age as well. If we can move any more young talent into town in that age I'm all for it, we are already planning the 2021 undefeated season lol.

I may not be kidding about moving mine either... If i do it it would be around the 9th grade. What is the national record for state titles right now? Wouldn't that be a heck of a note if our kids team was the one that broke that record?

This needs updated, but it's off the national high school football site, Artesia has 27 right now. If you go by our current rate which is every 2 years we win one, that would put us around 32 or 33. So maybe they play for the team that moves us into 2nd place? you never know All-Time 36 Sioux Falls Washington, SD (1905-2009) 32 Little Rock Central, AR (1907-2004) 27 Lawrence, KS (1945-95) 27 Omaha Creighton Prep, NE (1932-2004) 26 Artesia, NM (1957-2007) 26 Butte, MT (1900-91) 25 Phoenix Union, AZ (1913-55) 25 Everett, MA (1896-2007) 23 Valdosta, GA (1940-98) 23 Massillon Washington, OH (1909-2003) 21 Pine Bluff, AR (1915-95)

That would be fun, I will show you some highlights of him if I can post them. He was my QB, we won the super bowl here in Clovis, they got Championship Rings and all.....If I am moving there it will be this summer. As for breaking records, I'm all for it.....

that was a good run, I can't help but wonder how my kid would do with the pads on, and I think about the competitive edge and skill you might gain by playing at that age. My friend in Roswell says some of those kids can get after it.
That's cool you guys won the championship, well if you move into the area let me know.
