Havent seen Gentry play, may well be as good as his buildup. Just remember the Abq QB's sometime get more publicity than they deserve (Mader from Cibola for example). I'll take the QB's from RR over the last 5 years over anybody from ABQ and none of them signed with a D1 program and they were ignored by the Abq media except Cole Gautsche.

Does anybody know if this kid is related to the legendary NM high school football coach......Bill Gentry? Grandson maybe? Just wondering. hhs-class-of-1967.tripod.com/gentry.htmlCoach Bill Gentry is a LEGEND among NM HS football coaches. He coached in the Albuquerque area for 38 years. He was the head coach at Highland for 31 years, and HC at Eldorado for 7 years. He coached Albq Highland to 3 state titles in '63, '65, and '86. Bill Gentry was the HC of those Albq Highland teams that faced off against Artesia in the state championship game a few times back in the 1960s, standing across the field, and on the opposite sideline from Cooper's father......L.G. Henderson. Bill Gentry was already a coaching legend in NM when Jim Bradley and Eric Roanhaus were just getting started. He is the guy that "set the bar" in NM high school football. Coach Gentry held the record for most wins by a NM football coach for MANY years with 305. He was the Ralph Tasker (Hobbs Basketball Legend) of NM HS football. Coach Gentry is in the "NATIONAL High School Coaches Hall Of Fame". He passed away just a couple of years ago. Coach Gentry held the record for most wins for many years with 305, UNTIL Jim Bradley passed that mark with 310 just before he retired. Today, Bradley and Roanhaus are tied at 310 wins each. So Gentry is still 2nd in all-time wins in New Mexico. As far as I know, Gentry (as a last name) is not really that common. That, plus the fact that this Zach Gentry kid plays at Eldorado where Bill Gentry coached years ago just got me to wondering if they might be related. Could be just a coincidence I guess. No doubt that many members of the younger generation have never heard of Coach Bill Gentry. But I remember him very well! I am sure that Rapid, and especially Charliedog remember him also.

Besides being a Great HS Coach He use to clean us out in Poker games at Coaching School. His Offseason was the toughest I have ever heard of. H

I bet there is a good chance they are related crispy, good question someone will have to find out.
A Jim Everett or Landry Jones doesn't come around often in our state, to say he could be next in line is pre-mature, but with Landry's success maybe more kids in our state get looks, which helps everyone out.
That's my old Landry highlight video too on that page lol.

Not 100% sure, but I think he's Bill Gentry's grandson.
