The CFL is kind of fun to watch, due to the difference in rules. But, it's more fun if you also know some of the players, and if you've been to any of those Canadian cities.
One thing that's interesting is that they play on a 110-yard field, with very deep end zones. They also have the goal posts hanging over the goal line, like it was in the NFL for so long. And, if the kicking team misses a field goal or kicks off (or punts) into the end zone, the receiving team has to run it out of the endzone. If they don't make it, it's a single point.
They also use only three downs instead of four, and they also have a cap on the number of "imports" they can have on a roster. Of course, the "imports" are U.S. college products.

Buck Pierce (who also played for NMSU) has played in Canada for several years. He started out with the BC Lions but he's been the QB for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for a couple of years now. He's injured at the moment and expected to be out for at least one game and maybe more. It's a lot tougher playing when you're 30 years old.

I have to report the good and bad, Chris had 7 catches for over 100 yds last weekend but made a stupid play on a long 112 yard return of a missed FG. He showboated the last 5 yards and was takled on the 1, cost himself a TD. Usually not his style, wont happen again, he apologized to the team. They scored on the next play.

I know. That didn't really seem like Chris ... but everyone is entitled to a screwup now and then. I was screaming at my computer. Hope he never does it again! I think (and hope) he's above that behavior.

I saw that play this afternoon on 2 ESPN talk shows, got him some publicity none the less.

He is now going to team up with a local TV station in Hamilton and donate $1000 to a kids charity for every TD he scores the rest of the season. I dont know what his part will be but remember his contract is reported to be 50K this year, best bargain in pro football?

That's cool, 50K not bad but if his part is too much, he may want to start falling down again at the 1 yard line lol.

Update on CW- named CFL Special teams player of the week for the second time for his TD retuen of a punt last week vs Winnipeg. He also had 2 TDs receiving and all 3 of his scores made the CFL top 10 plays of the week. He now leads the league with 584 yds receiving and 9 TDS. I think the TD count inclused special teams. Keep up the good work Chris!

CW tied a CFL record with this fifth TD return on a 70 yd punt return last night in a loss to Montreal. This is in 8 games, they play 18 regular season games. Monday Sep 3 on NFL Network, does Artesia get the NFL Network?

Channel 60 on cable, watching Philadelphia and New England right now! 5 returns for TDs in 8 games is absolutely insane! CW's job is secure, even with the showboating incident. He ain't going anywhere! Unless it's to the NFL.

Wrong question crispy, I meant to ask if Artesia gets NBC Sports, NFL Network carried the CFL last year. I live about 2 miles from RR and I dont think they get NBC Sports.

Remember Chris Williams was with the dolphins after NMSU, got injured and eventually didn't make the team.
Rishard Matthews, played at Clovis briefly, torched us in Bulldog Bowl in 05. Then moved after the 1st game of his senior year to California.
Played at Nevada then drafted in the 7th round by Miami, has made the 53 man cut. Another Clovis WR made it to the NFL, we'll see how long he can last in the NFL.

CW set the CFL record with his sixth kick return touchdown (it was a punt). His team lost so I'm sure he isnt celebrating. Still half the season to be played for Hamilton.
