I have mentioned on here many times that our son Chris is in Denver. Actually he is in Lakewood which is a suburb, but still just about 5 miles from downtown Denver.
Well, I talked to our son yesterday afternoon. At the time this happened shortly after midnight (it was a midnight showing of the new Batman movie at the Century 16 in Aurora) our son was on an overnight camping trip with the youth group from his church. He is one of the youth pastors there and he works closely with the youth group. They were all at the campground at Cherry Creek State Park, only 4 miles South of where the the shooting took place.
He said that shortly after midnight they started hearing sirens. He said that the sirens just went on.....and on.....and on.....and on....for hours! They all talked about it and wondered what in the world was going on. He didn't find out what had actually happened until he woke up yesterday morning around 9 am.
He told me that he has been in the Aurora Century 16 a couple of times. The last time was just a couple of weeks ago when he went there to see "Brave". He had to have some work done on his car, so he took it to the Colorado Chrysler Jeep dealership in Aurora to have the work done. The Century 16 is only a mile or so from the dealership so he walked over there to catch the movie while they were working on his car.
Also, Charliedog posted on another site that his Granddaughter lives just 2 miles from that theater. Her neighbor from 2 houses down went to see the new Batman movie with her husband and 4 and 5 year old kids. She was shot in the leg, but her husband and kids were OK physically. Charliedog said that his Granddaughter is having a really difficult time with this.
I am sending up prayers for Charliedog's Granddaughter, the families of the victims, and everybody involved.
