OK I just heard that Yates Pet told their employees that Yates is going on the market. They would have to sell to a major or Large Independent and they will move all the Engineering jobs out of Artesia and move all Accounting and IT to it's Corporate or Regional office. How big of an impact is this going to have on Artesia and Bulldog Football? TEXAS OIL gather up a few Billion and buy and run it from Artesia and everyone will be OK.

My wife used to work at Yates for almost 10 years before our daughter came along and she stayed home to raise her. My aunt and cousin are at Myco. They've heard if a certain company buys it, didn't say who but the jobs will stay in Artesia and in fact there might be more jobs. So I guess just hope for the best and the Yates can do what's best for them and the people that work there can keep their job. Say the worse happens, I guess we could lose some families and some potential good players, other than that I don't see it having a major impact on the football program. As long as their is an Artesia, I think football will always survive and excel in this town. I think it will all work out but I'm always the optimist. I wish I could gather up a few Billion lol, if Texas Oil bought it and moved back that be great, I know 2 more good ball players would be moving in and playing with my kid, how awesome would that be

Charliedog and Randall. I take it as a HUGE compliment from both of you guys that you'd suggest that I/we/my companies buy Yates Petroleum.... I'd love to be in a position to do that, no doubt. Gathering up a few Billion isn't as easy as it used to be.... banks are a pain in the rear end these days!! If this upcoming Presidential election goes the way I hope it does and this country desperately needs it to go, ( conservatively ) then who knows....we may all be in a bread line in 2-3 years if it stays the same. If change comes....things could get on the fast track in a hurry and happy days for this country!
I've been hearing for the past couple of years that there are major things happening with Yates. Hopefully the new buyers will keep the company in Artesia and as Randall suggested they add more jobs. Any world on who that certain company is Randall??? I could ask around if I had a lead and give you a heads up to the plan... I could atleast ask...
Randall, I really do think long and hard about moving my family there someday.... you never know....We love DFW, but man o man the things a town like Artesia brings to the table for kids these days is priceless! What I mean is quite simply this: small town values and friendships one should not take for granted, and these are things a parent cannot give their child in a large metropolitan area. I'll be contacting you soon so we can plan OU/Texas... My twins cannot wait to meet you guys!
Charliedog, I will call you next week for sure.... Lunch on me. Let's talk some football, oil biz, and old times!! Sorry I haven't gotten back with you lately, but i've been slammed with work. We've been involved with the drilling of 51 wells in the Bakken since Novemeber alone. Add 2 areas in Texas we drill too and on top of that kids sports and I'm needing about 30 hours in a day to manage!
You guys flatter me... Thanks!!!

Yeah there has been rumors for the last several years it seems that Yates wanted to sell. I've heard Concho and Oxy are 2 companies interested.
Well just know if you do come back I think those boys would be in good company, I think even jayster1 would say we've got a good group of athletes in their grade, loved to recruit even more. Who knows what the future holds or where your path in life leads you but like you said you never know.
I've been meaning to email you too texasoil, the whole summer has been a blur. We will have had 6 tournaments this summer, baseball, soccer and basketball this weekend makes 4 weekend tournaments in a row. Looking forward to visiting this fall as well, can't wait, i'll be in touch

talked to a pumper today, he said OXY was very interested and a deal would be made by end of year, with one of the two, but other than Randall saying Concho, not sure who the 2nd one is

Talked to a pumper today... Somehow I don't think the suits of billion dollar companies confide in their pumpers when it comes to deal making. Having said that, when we were selling Yates Drilling back in 2010 word in the field had it Oxy was buying us. We went through a lengthy process and Oxy ultimately ended up acquiring us. Our field guy was convinced he knew this from the start due to the talk in the field. To this day he still doesn't believe me when I tell him it didn't happen that way!
Hopefully the acquiring company will buy YPC with the intent of drilling it's vast acreage and put more people to work and keep a large Artesia presence. Only time (and possibly the pumpers in the field) will tell.
