Good game by the Las Cruces Bulldawgs. I think their on a mission now since their loss to Rio Rancho. Artesia is a class program and it's going to come down to Artesia and Goddard for the class 4A title. Its always a good rivalry between the dawgs and dogs. I hope this contest continues between these two great programs. LC DAWGS just a little bigger and a little faster this time around. Best of luck to Artesia in their quest for another class 4A championship.

Thanks lcdawg, it always good to be in a dawg fight in the regular season, you see things you need to work on and I believe it helps us down the road. Good luck to las cruces.

I have seen this many times in the last few years. Dog early in season biting on ankles trying to tackle. Missed Tackles all night long. As I have always said that this can be corrected and many times D players were in position to make the tackle and just tried to tackle an ankle. It will be corrected and tackling will get better each game. Make them run Bleachers for each missed tackle

I trust the coaches in AHS that they will correct the tackling errors. Go Bulldogs beat Clovis.

I'm curious on the thoughts of the special teams play that Artesia tried three times during the game? Catch the punt and turn your back on the opponent and try to fake hand off to a couple of different players.
I was surprised that they would keep going to that with an opponent that is so much BIGGER, STRONGER and FASTER across the board than they are.
Overall I thought the home team was way over matched in this contest. But they did not get down and were able to make several nice plays trough out the game.
Miller appeared to be a little pissed about some of the home town calls the officials were making. He left his starters in for most of the game. It could have been a good time to get some of the back-ups some quality minutes against a quality opponent. The game was never really close after the first quarter and could have been much worse save a few calls.

I think the bulldog defense did not show up against Las Cruces. Hopefully they will against Clovis. I think the defense has been the thorn on the 'dog side. In terms of 5A Rio Rancho is still the best. Hopefully they take the Blue Trophy this year.

AHS is wise to play tough opponents and hats off to them, that is why they always rise towards the top in the end. And if Rio Rancho is tops in 5A, that's great for the Rockets who took it to them at home...
I love the deafening silence from the North this season.

That's where the middle guy turns his back and usually hands the ball off

Miller sure didn't have anything to be pissed about since the refs DIDN"T call a whole lotta holding, isn't that what they usually call when an offensive (fat boy) lays on defensive guy and wont let him up? I was going to shut up about it, but that was the dirtiest team I have ever seen! Instead of 1 guy being ejected there should have been several. I believe it was #70 that was ejected, what about 72, 75 and a few others. Damn they were twice our size and still had to hold and take cheap shots? Paybacks will be hell down the line! BY the way, I was sitting with someone from Las Cruces area and they were hollering about it too! Call me a sore loser but there is a world of difference in getting beat and getting screwed! Don't worry Randall, I'm not postal yet!

I happened to watch the game... as I follow high school football on Max Preps. VERY impressed that your program has so many state championships. Also... that I could actually watch the game over the Internet. My opinion of the game was a different class of football 4a VS 5a. Period. No ill reflection on your team at all. The players on the "DAWGS" team were at an obvious different level of size and speed. You guys did a great job playing a program that size. Keep up the hard work and try and keep the sore-losers from posting on a class organizations website, it discredits your accomplishments.

Thanks Gene, Yes in terms of state championships, Artesia is number one. Some of those championships came against teams that were much bigger than the 'dogs. Artesia can hold it' own with 5A teams in general. Las Cruces was good they should be undefeated. Go 'dogs beat Clovis.

Las Cruces is a very good 5a team. They should make a great run at a state championship and I would not be surprised if they win it. Well coached and good athletes. We looked a little flat dropped some balls and made them look pretty good. We will live to fight another day. Clovis at home is no cake walk. Go Dogs. Beat Clovis. Take State.

Well, basically half our schedule is 5A teams year in and year out and we do very well against them, winning about as often as we lose. It's rare to get handled as we did Friday, 5A opponent or not. Consider AHS is only a middle-ish sized 4A school and it's very impressive.
