State Legislature Recognizes Bollema
Feb. 4, 2013
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The New Mexico State Legislature last week honored University of New Mexico junior Dallas Bollema during UNM Day in Santa Fe. Bollema, a business major and the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player in 2012, was recognized on the floor of both houses, along with track and field student-athlete Yeshemabet Turner. The Artesia, N.M., native is a 2012 Academic All-Mountain West recipient who led the Lobo defense in tackles in with 89 and tied for the team lead with three interceptions. The Lobos improved from 118th among the 120 Football Bowl Subdivision school in scoring defense (40.6 points per game allowed) in 2011 to 78th (30.2 points per game allowed) in 2012. UNM's Football Signing Day is Wednesday, and its 2013 season opener takes place Aug. 31 against Texas San-Antonio on Branch Field at University Stadium.

Going to be interesting to see what happens with him next year, maybe he can get a shot at the pros. Can you imagine 2 guys from Artesia in the pros, that would be awesome.

Happy to hear Dallas is getting some recognition. He was always one of my favorites.

I thought he should have been first team all MWC along with Alex Means of AF but neither one made it.
