www.krqe.com/dpp/news/on_assignment/former-star-athlete-ponders-new-missionAs many of you will recall, Mader was the second-best high school QB in New Mexico behind Landry, when both were high school seniors. Mader signed with UNM but never played due to injuries and some off-field things. He had some "issues" in the recent years and is in jail for a DUI (his 2nd). I know it probably annoyed Artesia fans when some on one of the UNM message boards said that Mader would do better in college than Landry. And, it's also unfortunate that many, and maybe Landry himself, associated that claim with the "Albuquerque media." Anyway, I thought this would be an interesting thing to see (it was on TV last night), and I'd like to think that Landry would reach out to Mader if he knew about his situation.

This is why the decisions you make are so important. It's just hard for teenagers to understand that one decision can change your life forever. It seems he understands how he got to where he is now and I admire his determination to turn his life around. I wish nothing but the best for him and hope he, in turn, is able to help others.
