Both teams win their conference championship.
The Basketball programs at these 2 schools have been pretty strong in recent years, why the success with Basketball and they are the worst by far not only in conference but ranked as the worst in the nation in Football.
How is Basketball able to thrive?

I'm not one to support UNM as everybody on this board knows but they got screwed in the seeding. I think the committee was thinking about the Harvard game too much. SDSU a 4 seed, no way! Go Aggies, beat the Aztecs!!

Go Aggies, beat the Aztecs!! I agree with you Mike. Last year the Lobos were a #3 seed and they were unhappy because they thought they should have been a #2. They thought they got screwed over. Then they blew the opening game and lost to Harvard. The committee doesn't forget things like that. And now they are crying because they think they got disrespected with a lower seed than they think they deserve.

They beat SDSU two out of three games and SDSU seeded two spots ahead of them and stays in the west. The Lobos did get screwed! Last year should have nothing to do with this year!

And then the Loobs lose to a 10 seed (and screw up my bracket), which doesn’t help their case about the seeding.
You gotta feel for the guys that do the seeding. I'd hate to have that job. I believe (though I have no idea whether it's true or not) that Alford was an influence in the seeding. Last year they had him (with his BIG name) and they got the 3 seed. This year he's gone, and although I think Neal is as good a coach as Alford, I doubt the seeding committee agrees ... thus the higher seed. I also think they took the Harvard game into account ... maybe not on purpose but it's hard to not let things like that influence your decision.
As you know, "I are an Aggie" but I was still surprised we got anything lower than a 15 seed. I was, however, very proud that we didn't quit and almost made the comeback good. If we would only learn to play both halves and not wait until the 2nd half to start. Such is life ...
Just like you can't fight referees, you can't fight the seeding committee (look at high school football). You just have to take what you get and try to overcome it. You get bad refs, it’s too late, the game’s already happening, so you just have to suck it up and outplay them.
That's my 2¢ worth. It might not be correct, but it’s all I got.

Those Lobos love to break your heart, that Harvard team from last year was legit though, they knocked off Cinci this year, but enough is enough with them, they have a long history of 1 and done.
Aggies have a good squad I think they have more potential to win a game in the tourney, just that their conference isn't strong so they are always getting a low seed. They showed better than the Lobos imo.

AO, 1 and done is better than no one isn't it? LOL UNM & NMSU have a history of losing out in 1st round, I figured they would again this year so that is why I didn't pick them to win in my brackets. I'm sure not going to win the billion $$$$ but doing pretty good! LOL
