If anything I heard Hobbs would likely build a private school? Artesia has plans for a 9th Grade or Freshman Academy, it's already in the works. Yeah, I heard somebody talking about that on the radio last week sometime....I think it may have been Dr Caton. Said that Artesia would be building a new school just for freshmen, but I don't think he said where they would build it. Elementary schools will be grades 1-4....Zia will be 5th and 6th......Park will be 7th and 8th.......the new school will be 9th.....and high school 10-12 like it is now.

I heard it would be approximately on top of the old natatorium Yeah in that area I believe, the schools own a lot of the land right there and where the old Bulldog Superette used to be. Sounds like there is a possibility it could be a few stories high if there isn't enough area to put the campus and have enough room for ample parking and such.

Bulldog Superette is gone? Wasn't that at the NW corner of 13th and Grand?
Ninth Grade Centers are real popular these days; looks like Artesia's jumping on the bandwagon. I live near Franklin High School here in El Paso; it initially was grades 9-12, with Hornedo Middle School (grades 6-8) built right next to it. A few years ago, though, EPISD converted Hornedo into a ninth grade center and built two new middle schools to handles grades 6-8. FHS is grades 10-12 now.
EPISD built a ninth grade center on the Coronado High School campus, taking over a parking lot. The frosh have their own building for all classes. CHS is grades 10-12.

It caught on fire, what, probably 8-10 years ago? Don't remember exactly how long ago, but it has been a while. Most of the damage from the fire was on the inside. From what I remember they went in and fixed it up after the fire. But they never re-opened. Just an empty building sitting there from what I know. It doesn't look like there's anything wrong with the building. Not sure why they never re-opened, or why some other business never moved in.

The last time I went thru Artesia, I was all prepared to have a doulbe big one with green chile and cheese and curly fries, (with a diet coke, mind you), only to find Bulldog Superette closed! I cannot count the times I had one of those on my desk at the fieldhouse, or the fact that that is what I used to 'cook' on Saturday evening. A historical marker should be planted there.
Or, even better! Have the burgers on the menu of the new 9th grade school cafeteria to carry on the Bulldog Superette tradition! (I'll come back and teach at the 9th grade school if they will do that)! Coach Johnson and I could team teach!

(I'll come back and teach at the 9th grade school if they will do that)! Coach Johnson and I could team teach! Yeah, the "Big One" at Bulldog Superette was HUGE! Actually, if you were heath conscious it was big enough for 2 people...or cut it in half and have one half for lunch and the other half for dinner. Almost as big as a plate...with a 3/4 pound patty. I know it was a 3/4 lb patty because I asked them one time. Biggest hamburger I ever saw! Once, I came home from work and I was absolutely starving...didn't eat breakfast and worked straight through lunch. About 7pm and I hadn't eaten anything all day. I called up Bulldog Superette (I always called in my order ahead of time) and a ordered a "Big One" with double meat. The girl on the phone said.......Double meat??? Are you sure? ?? She relayed my order while I was still on the phone and I could hear the other girls laughing in the background.
