In the 1974 State Championship Game Deming had the top QB in State named Tim Dooley. His Dad was head Basketball Coach. There was a song back then titled Tom Dooley about a man about to die at the gallows and be hung. Our cheerleaders put up a sign that said 'HANG DOWN YOUR HEAD TIM DOOLEY POOR BOY YOUR ABOUT TO DIE" His Dad later said a few years later that he and his wife were sick and afraid for their son the entire game. 1974 a different world

This was long before PC was invented in the mid-1980s (according to a Newsweek cover story).

Interesting story, seems weird that would be taken literally, especially since it was lyrics in a song.

Deming Schedule and scores so far. @del Norte 54-0 W vs Organ Mountain 28-7 L vs Goddard 28-13 L
Not a bad score vs Goddard at Home, last year in Deming we won 42-34, honestly if you recall that game we were lucky to pull that one out, could have easily been a loss. I would think about that game sometimes last year and think how our fortune could have changed if it was a loss, most likely have ended up as #5 seed for the playoffs instead of #4 and playing Mayfield on the road instead of at home.

Hmmm . . . it's barely one week into September. Isn't that way too early to have Homecoming?

If it was up to me this would have only been the first week of school. Start after Labor Day.

If it was up to me this would have only been the first week of school. Start after Labor Day. That's what we did in El Paso when I started school in the fall of 1959 -- start right around Labor Day, then finish up in late May. Of course, back then the school year consisted of 170 class days. In 1966, it became 180 class days, so they moved the start up two weeks into August . . . in school buildings that were not air-conditioned.

Bulldogs win it 57-7 at Halftime. 1st time I can recall us not playing a 2nd half.
Dogs (3-1) at Cleveland next week.

Beautiful pics. Thank you Ditto. Tell me again who the photographer is?
Also, were they honoring past Bulldog state champion teams at halftime? If so, did anybody get group shots that they could post here (with I.D.)?
