Will Artesia ever come out with a win against Cleveland? Played em tough a couple times. It's gonna be a rough night, even if we win. Not sure even if we play our perfect game if it will be enough. I will just be happy if we come out of this game healthy and with no injuries.

This is a team we should get off our schedule. It’s already arguably cost us 2 state championships. Losing Pacheco last year and Ethan Duff in 2016. Both were extremely talented difference makers and lost their senior season vs Cleveland - and we ended as state runner ups both years.

Going to ramble a bit, here goes.
I hate to say it in some ways, Artesia always played whoever, whenever, it's been a source of pride and the history and tradition of our program I would say. Cleveland just been on a whole new level the past few years, I think this series has ran it's course, I personally don't know anyone that would be sad if we moved away from this game.
It's great Cleveland has played us all these years, as they don't have much to gain but a lot to lose if they got upset by us. They do enjoy the matchup as we give them some different looks, pretty much the words of their old head coach, as we have scored some points on them in past games.
Could we ever beat Cleveland? very slim chance, the 2016 Game as dogwarden referred too I think we were in that game until Duff went out, trading punches but we slowed down after that as I recall. Still been very tough to pull off I think.
2017 was our best chance I think, I believe we were up by a couple scores in that game at one point in the 1st half. At the end we had some chances at the Endzone, I believe the last pass from Taylor Null was just a little high in the back of the endzone. I think if we got that touchdown we probably go for the 2 points and the win.

Talent in NM runs though Rio Rancho. State Titles now run through Rio Rancho. Hobbs may have the horses up front to take them on this year. Jimmy's and Joe's can make a huge difference

They typically don’t do send offs during the regular season it’s usually reserved for playoffs that I’m aware of

Jimmy's and Joe's can make a huge difference I agree, power has shifted. Las Cruces schools not out of the picture and can compete but frontrunners have been the Storm and Rams. You mention Hobbs, big game tonight as Rio Rancho Rams visit Hobbs. MikeMoe had trouble posting a comment but he said don't be surprised if Hobbs wins, Rio nursing some injuries as well.

Also KSVP only going to have Audio tonight, if you want to watch have to buy it on the NFHS network. I'll be home watching this one, safe travels if your going up today. I'd love it if we could somehow someway pull off an upset, going to be extremely tough but curious to see us compete. Storm speed is really what concerns me, Wysong and company, some fast guys.

Don't know what happened but could not sign in today,,,,, but here I am,,!! LOL. I had heard that KSVP was only going to do Audio and figured Agent Orange would know the troot,,LOL. Wonder why they opted to not televise,,? Better pull up NFHS quick. Was talking to a friend in Lovington and he tells me,," If any Southern team can beat Cleveland,,it will be the Bulldogs". I too dislike losing a starter to a game that doesn't mean much to other teams we play,,,but that "Respect" factor sure does play havoc with THEIR game plans when they play Them Bulldogs. Good Luck to the Dogs and Safe Travels with those fortunate to be able to go to the game.

Well typical artesia/cleveland game. We can score some points but not much chance of stopping them from scoring unless we get a turnover. 61-33 Final
We need to play mistake free to have a chance to win one, take our turnovers away and this might be a game going down to the wire.
Good effort, no quit in us that I see against a much bigger opponent.
Hobbs defeats Rio Rancho 30-20, mikemoe called it.
Roswell beats the brakes off Carlsbad. 47-6
Las Cruces defeats Mayfield 35-7
PV defeats Goddard not sure of the final score yet.

I think Coach Lynn at Roswell challenged his teams toughness after that thumping they took from Hobbs…… and they have responded! I hope Coach Maupin does the same thing with us. Offensively we had 20+ kids rotate in and out vs Cleveland- and at least half of them wanted no part of being on the field. Playing as many kids as possible may work against Belen and Deming, but when you play an opponent who wants nothing more than to punch you in the mouth (like Cleveland and Roswell) you will often expose those that prefer personal safety over winning the physical match up. We are getting into the meat and potatoes of the season, when things get tough players will show you what kind of guts/heart they have…… Believe them!!
