Looks like their qb was injured in the 3rd quarter as well and didn't return.

This morning I enjoyed listening to the Los Alamos sports announcer covering the game. He was very appreciative of the warmth and friendliness of people in Artesia. He was also very impressed with the Bowl, press box and field house, which he mentioned several times! He was very complimentary of the Bulldog players and their history. His coverage of the game seemed very unbiased and he seemed surprised that the Bulldogs were flagged for intentional grounding at one point. ladailypost.com/live-sports-broadcast-state-semifinal-varsity-football-hilltoppers-vs-artesia/

PV announcers said they didn't mind coming to bulldog bowl, they said they didn't like the wool bowl though lol I have no idea why.
They were the last team to beat Roswell and in the Wool Bowl.

I rewatched the KSVP feed of the Los Alamos game this morning. I’m not sure how to post clips on this board but for those interested, at the 53:00 minute mark is a great example of why our offense will struggle against Roswell. Details matter against good teams.
The “out route” is the most basic route of the Bulldog offense. Every slot that has ever played for Artesia has heard the sane “When in doubt, run the out!” A million times. Because when ran and thrown correctly, it’s nearly indefensible. The Artesia out is (7 yards, angled down to 5). As you can see at the 53:00 minute mark, we run (7 yards, angled up to 9). The ball is probably still a bit behind the receiver, but the ball would be getting to the slot 4 yards sooner in the proper route and the defender cant come underneath. Watch the film. Roswell has very good pass defenders that will always be in good position to capitalize on mistakes like this.

was going to comment and got busy.
What you say seems to make sense to me dogwarden at least on that scenario above and the ball was a tad behind as you said, but I don't know the ins and outs of the offense. I would ask my son sometimes why are you doing that instead of this? he would explain it to me, essentially they were trying to accomplish something different, it's not my offense I guess is what I'm saying lol, I stop making suggestions or quizzing him why this or that, he was an outside wr though.
seems like something that's an easy fix ? wouldn't be hard to learn if that's how it supposed to be done. You may have me experience or knowledge with that than me or played the position, have you noticed this all season? or was this just a 1 off and a sloppy play
Against lesser comp I agree we can get away with more stuff but against a sound defense the little things will matter. I can't see us being that bad though again against Roswell, hopefully have something different, like to see us ground and pound some more but without Leroch don't have that luxury.

Now that’s hospitality. He also said he wished they could play Artesia more often and was going to talk to some people to see if they could.

I listened to the Los Alamos announcer broadcast of the game and he was very appreciative of the hospitality and the opportunity to play at the Bowl. I don’t think playing Los Alamos every year would benefit the Bulldogs but possibly having one of our JV teams play them might not be a bad thing.

I can't see us being that bad though again against Roswell, hopefully have something different, like to see us ground and pound some more but without Leroch don't have that luxury. That ball was no doubt thrown behind the receiver. I think this year we have lacked in the out route like I’ve never seen before. Conn ran a great one this last week (best I remember) but I’ve seen all the slots round off their out route this season. Details are important in route running and we don’t hit those details consistently this year. Angles are important and if you get that 7 yards angled back to 5, the out can’t be guarded without shading outside and giving up the middle of the field or the seem route. The ball still has to be thrown out in front though. I could be spoiled from watching Greathouse last year who hit all the details perfectly at such a consistent rate. But we are 13 weeks in… that out route should be completed with our eyes closed with some of the defensive looks we have been getting. Chaney Hardt is who comes to mind when I think of the perfect out route. He ran it to absolute perfection. x.com/coachdancasey/status/1723514946812563740?s=46&t=UsvTvcScof73lBcqTboNOwAlso, the link above is to a route ran by Georgia and he was wide open. The QB for the #1 ranked team in the nation under throws him but the receiver adjusts and makes the play. I know these are also receivers for the same #1 team but I don’t think we can expect a High School kid to make every throw, every play. sometimes takes the receiver wanting to make a play and going and getting it. That’s another thing Greathouse was superb at last year. Also, if you have time to find and watch one of those jet sweep pitches that came towards our sideline, Juan Diego Duran ran off the corner and even threw his hands up like the ball was coming. He completely took the corner (who was LA’s best dude) is out of the play and we ran right to where he would have been. That’s part of playing receiver that is so important and rarely gets noticed. I love to see that kind of stuff.

I agree, playing safety myself and my son playing LB/Safety hybrid this year, he and I agree thats its easy pickings when a receiver rounds their routes or stares straight or in the direction the route is going.

Good luck against Roswell, I actually think they got the tougher matchup for the semis lol. We shall see, looking forward to another weekend of HS Football

And Coach Maupin does make changes to some routes and some plays depending on the team we are playing. So obviously I don’t know the offense or game plan like he does. I guess what I was trying to say, is that the out route is literally lesson #1 for both, the QB & the slot positions. No way that route is being changed- and if we are struggling with lesson #1 in the quarterfinals of the playoffs- how far away are we from becoming the team that can beat Roswell? Hopefully only 10 days away 🏆!!

gotcha,
well hopefully it all comes together, hopeful we get a decent challenge this week and have a good rehearsal for the next week.
I think there is a little more buzz with this game, had more people ask me how to get tickets to this week game on FB than last week, we shall see. The time to put it all together is now.

I do believe that PV will be a little more of a challenge that Los Alamos but we should still walk all over them pretty easily. Try have a young team and maybe something to look out for in the next couple seasons

Try have a young team and maybe something to look out for in the next couple seasons After the Roswell game, I don’t speak of easy games or beat downs, until we do or if we win the State game. Jesse Armendariz is my QB son, I tell him and my son they better play their ass off, because they just might find themselves with that lonesome feeling they both felt 2 years ago in Los Lunas

I wouldn't either in front of a player but just us old heads on here I believe lol.
I think you meant Los Lunas there but oh yeah you don't want that feeling, even as parent of a kid.
I think the emotional aspect of the game is crucial, it can make or break you sometimes. Los Lunas who was almost all but eliminated in the semis but Goddard couldn't finish them, and made some coaching mistakes in my opinion. LL played with so much piss and vinegar against us playing their old coach, it almost hurt them with personal fouls but we were up against it that day, we played hard clawed back in but some costly turnovers hurt us. Proud of the way we played but yeah still hurts, will always hurt.
That's one thing I think you might be able to account for next week, Bulldog Bowl will be filled, kids should be extra motivated to prove it, we got punked as they said, I sure hope we rebound from that district game, it won't be easy but I expect us to play hard.
