Anybody notice the Helmet decals this Saturday honoring Mack?
My friend and historian said that's the first time we've had a decal on the side of our helmet in 35 Years, the 88 Bulldogs had the word Bulldogs scripted on the side of the helmet.

www.tricityrecordnm.com/articles/prep-football-teams-hit-the-road-for-state-semifinals/Class 5A semifinals Piedra Vista (6-5) at Artesia (10-1) Saturday, 1 p.m. In the span of time between last year’s Class 5A championship game at Hutchison Stadium between Piedra Vista and Artesia, a lot has changed for the Panthers. This year’s squad started the season with a new quarterback and a host of younger players replacing the void left by the graduations of some of the 2022 season’s key starters. As this season unfolded, it looked at times as if the Panthers were still learning to come together as a unit, losing each of its four games and getting off to a 2-5 start before the opening District 1/5-Class 5A schedule got underway. Since that time, the Panthers have now won four in a row, including an impressive 30-6 win in a Class 5A quarterfinal at home last weekend over Valley High School. The Panthers, which came into the playoffs as the three-seed, have now grown into a more cohesive unit in recent weeks. “We went from a group of inexperienced and untested sophomores and inexperienced older players to a team that’s more battle tested and we’ve definitely come a long way,” said Piedra Vista head coach Jared Howell. The Panthers will be looking to avenge its loss to Artesia on Saturday in a Class 5A semifinal clash at the Bulldog Bowl. One of the most decorated teams in the state of New Mexico, Artesia has won 31 state titles dating back to 1957 and entered this year’s playoffs as the two-seed behind only Roswell. “To be in this position, to be playing against the best of the best, it says a lot about these kids and going from where we were at the start of the season to seeing where we are right now,” Howell said. Artesia earned its way into the semifinals after a crushing 57-14 win at home last weekend over Los Alamos in quarterfinal action. The Bulldogs finished with 524 yards of total offense in the contest. Senior quarterback Nye Estrada completed 11 of 17 passes for 236 yards and two scores, while junior Izac Cazares and sophomore Cael Houghtaling also threw scoring passes. Cazares also led the team in rushing with 110 yards on only nine carries, while junior Frankie Galindo had seven carries for 51 yards. “They’re a program that just does everything the right way,” Howell said. “In order for us to do what we need to do, we need to focus on our own execution and not get caught up in our own mistakes.” The winner of this matchup advances to the Class 5A championship game and a showdown against either top-seeded Roswell or fifth-seeded Deming. The 11-0 Coyotes are looking to complete an unbeaten season and are coming off a 50-0 rout in a quarterfinal win last weekend over Mayfield. The Wildcats are coming off a 33-0 rout over Goddard in last weekend’s quarterfinal round and are in search of their first state championship in football. This is the fifth meeting since 2014 between Piedra Vista and Artesia, with each of the first four games all taking place in the postseason. The Panthers have yet to beat the Bulldogs in those four prior games. The Piedra Vista game against Artesia will be broadcast live on 107.9 KPRT-FM

Has there ever been a playoff bracket that was more pre-determined? When the bracket was released 3-4 weeks ago, we ALL knew who was going to be playing in the Championship game. Both Roswell and Artesia were just going through the motions to get to this point!

Good call.
50-0 Final Score.
PV really struggled their qb was a freshman I believe, guess their starter wasn't healthy from his injury last week. Roswell defeats Deming 45-0.
It all comes down to next Saturday.

Bulldogs are going to have to man up next Saturday for sure. They are capable of doing it.

Anyone know why the concession stand is closed on the visitor side and even the home side limited? Wouldn’t this be a huge opportunity for some other sport/booster to make a ton of money for their program? Next Saturday will be the biggest game in the state, and the Bulldog Bowl will be at full capacity, but we won’t have concession stands? I just don’t get it.

And just one thing to add.......if we start off next Saturday against Roswell like we did vs PV we are going to find ourselves in a 21-0 hole pretty darn quick! Seems like we didn't really get untracked and get things going our way until the 2nd quarter. Can't do that against Roswell! They will capitalize on our mistakes....unlike PV.

Personal opinion: 1: cut some sections off the north side fence and make some spots for taco trucks. In my opinion would make a whole lot of money and add a lot of variety.
2: if the dogs can come come into and pay like they did agains Cleveland they could have a great game. But the last opponents besides Roswell have been so under the dogs it hasn’t helped them to get ready. There hasn’t been big challenges. Not to take away from those teams but Roswell had a game plan and they played out the way they wanted to.
This time around if they want that title they will have to go out and work for it at a next level. Roswell got a taste for the best down and will bring everything they have. Play the whole 48 minutes take nothing for granted.
Side note: coach Maupin has been in every championship game for the last five years. That’s truly impressive.
