BTW, the Albuquerque Journal FINALLY ran an AP story again that features Landry, in this morning's paper (Sunday, Aug. 7). I don't think there's a link on their page for it, though.

For those interested, ESPNU will televise four 30-minute original Oklahoma All-Access programs Monday (8/15) Tuesday (8/16), Thursday (8/18) and Friday (8/19), all at 3:30 p.m. I believe the show will repeat each of those days at 8:30 pm. According to the press release: Oklahoma will provide ESPN with extensive behind-the-scenes access into the inner workings of a college football program by giving viewers an inside look at practices, team meetings and activities, and campus facilities. Each episode will be presented in the players’ and coaches’ own words as Oklahoma begins its season and what it hopes will be a quest for a national championship. ESPN will go behind-the-scenes to take fans inside the Sooners, both on and off the field.
ESPN will air Oklahoma All-Access as two 30-minute episodes Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. ET and 7:30 p.m. A five-part series featuring excerpts from the access will be televised on College Football Live, SportsCenter and additional studio programs August 15-19.

Remember when Sooner fans weren't too sure this Landry Jones kid from New Mexico was going to work out and calling for some of the backups to get some snaps?
How times have changed, just about every Heisman talk that comes up on ESPN or other Networks will mention Landry Jones. I'm sure the fans would be all over him again if he went out and threw 2 picks against Florida State but that goes with being the Quarterback of a team like the Sooners.

Remember when Sooner fans weren't too sure this Landry Jones kid from New Mexico was going to work out and calling for some of the backups to get some snaps? Yes, I do remember that. It's ancient history now thankfully! I also remember the night that Landry committed to OU. We had something like 50 OU fans on this board that night. I don't mean Bulldog fans that are also OU fans. I mean OU fans from Oklahoma who managed to find this Bulldog message board and they were all here that night. The posts in the hours leading up to Landry giving his verbal were happening so fast that it was hard to keep up with all of them. It was more like a chat room than a message board. You would read a couple of posts, then when you refreshed the page there would be 8-10 more posts to read. That was a crazy night on this site. And if I recall correctly, there were even some Colorado Buffs fans here that night. And also some impromptu exchanges between some Sooner fans and some Buff fans. Ah, the memories!

And if I recall correctly, there were even some Colorado Buffs fans here that night. And also some impromptu exchanges between some Sooner fans and some Buff fans. Ah, the memories! I was actually in Oklahoma that morning he committed, back in 2007. I had to burn some vacation time from my UNM job, so I did a four-day weekend and went to the town where I grew up, to go fishing with my dad. We listened to a nice interview with Landry on statewide radio while driving to our fishing/picnic spot northeast of Ardmore. The feedback was all very positive that morning. In fact, the guy who runs the store near the entrance of the Blue River State Hunting and Fishing Area, was especially psyched. I bought my non-resident fishing license from him, and he saw my New Mexico driver's license and told of having a relative in Artesia who's in the school system (he didn't give the name, though). I hope to get back down there in late November and pay him and his area a visit. (By the way, the area isn't far from Dallas, if any of you are nearby - it's 8 miles out of Tishomingo, Okla., and the business is Scotty's One Stop) I think Landry has won over about 99% of the fan base. The ones who are still the doubters are just those stubborn idiots who don't want to admit they were wrong. That's sort of like trying to convince some folks in Albuquerque that Lobogate was actually a bad thing, many moons ago, but I digress. Now, if we could just get the "Urinal" in Albuquerque to cooperate. Last year's sports editor was a complete imbecile, but this guy make top that level of jerkiness. Today's paper featured the annual "national" college football schedule wrap-around that holds coupons and inserts. Last year's edition included a huge photo of Landry. This year's featured a color shot of Arizona's Nick Foles and a B&W shot of Andrew Luck. Neither of those guys has any ties to New Mexico. I'm starting to think that Randy Harrison of the Journal must either hate OU something fierce, or someone who looked like Landry stole his lunch money at some point in time.

Yeah that was a fun night on here crispy, we had about 50 registered users on at one time, not counting the guests we totaled up to 281 unique users on the board at one time! That's when we allowed guest posts as well so the replies were coming in fast and furious. I don't think we will reach that point ever again. The highlight of this board for sure, since we were one or maybe the 1st website to break the news thanks to fattdog's inside info.

NMSooner, is this for real or is this one of those fake covers like Randall did with the EA Sports NCAA Football 12 cover? Hate to sound naive but I don't get out much, if you know what I mean. Seems like if Landry were to be on the cover of SI that word would be out all over town. And I've heard nothing!

That image came from a Tulsa TV station's site, and soonersports.com had a release on it yesterday also.
I think the only variations will be where each player is placed in the photo. I think the west coast version will have Andrew Luck in the middle, for example.

I hope to receive mine in the mail today. It'd be my luck that some "regional" nitwit with SI thinks that Albuquerque is "west coast" oriented. Some of the locals still think we're supposed to root for LA pro teams, but SoCal doesn't even border us. Oklahoma and Texas do.

Landry Jones is really on the cover of SI. There's 5 different covers with Landry, Alshon Jeffery (South Carolina), Jared Crick (Nebraska), Trent Richardson (Alabama), and Andrew Luck (Stanford). Each have their own. I just got mine today through subscription and luckily it had landry as the main guy.
