In my book, you can just add another bar to the old crap-meter for the 2011 football season. Oh well, better now than later. I sure don't want anyone playing for the Aggies that doesn't want to be there nor anyone who takes a commitment lightly.

I have mixed feelings. I want him to go where he wants but why verbal to NMSU in the first place with the UNM coaching situation being up in the air. I wouldnt think an assistant coach like Lenzmeir could have that much influence. Solmebodys word dont mean what it used to.
Maybe the Ags can sign Fitzpatrick now.

This happens a lot, I myself thought his verbal was kinda iffy. I think UNM is the right choice, unless a better offer comes along. I think he can go to UNM and compete for playing time right away, I think his competition to play at NMSU would have been tougher.

You must not be a Loob fan if you think competition to play would be tougher at NMSU! I admit State does have a pretty good QB (Manley) coming back so ... I'm just so tired of the Red Menace Guys (mainly Bandito/Leeroy) coming to the Aggie forum and denigrating our talent unless, of course, they want to "swipe" a recruit. I think kids should play where they want to. Classes and athletics are hard enough without added pressure of not wanting to be there.

I"m not to up to date on the lobos at QB, who do they have? they got the Raton kid, I think one left the team or is leaving. I wouldn't be shocked if Cole starts for them next year, I think he is that good. Sorry you lost him godogs, i knew you wouldn't like this news.

I either heard or read that Lenz moving had nothing to do with his decision. I know what you are saying Randall it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If he thought there wasw even a slight chance he would switch, why didnt he wait until the coaching situation was figured out at UNm.
I would start him right away. I dont know much about Walton but Cole is the 5A player of the year. More inpressive to me than Holbrook, who disappears vs good competition and even a couple of QBs who left, Godfrey and Austin were more runners than passers.
Aggies - Sign Fitzpatrick from RRHS!

I'm kinda shocked he doesn't have more offers, I wonder if he went to very many camps? he kinda reminds me of Landry nobody could really stop him in HS just like Cole, he's got the same size, speed and weight as LJ did in HS from what I see online. I think the lobos got away with a steal right here.
Haven't seen Fitz play as much, a lot of hype about him when he transferred to RR, no offense mike but there always seems to be a lot of hype about RR which I don't take too seriously, but to compete the way they did against Cleveland in both contest and make it to the semi-finals they were pretty good. I didn't really care for the move from Santa Fe to RR but obviously it paid off for him so I can't argue with that, he might have just got himself a D1 scholarship with the move.

You are right Randall a lot of RR QBs have been hyped, but I think its the stats that are deceiving. For example Tyler Baker had great stats and didnt make it in college, dont know what he is doing now. I was skeptical about Fitz going into the year but after seeing him play I think he deserves a D1 look. Passing wise he is as good or better than Cole, dosent make as many good decisions, forces the ball too much but is an underated runner.
I disagree on the camps. These 7 on 7 deals are run in shorts and T shirts, Kind of like basing the NFL draft on the combine vs game tape. After seeing both, Alex Olajetah at Ot I dont think he is the prospect Baggett is at center. Alex made his impression in the camps. Back to Gautsche, I think his situation is like Landrys, a better QB now that anybody on UNM's roster. In fact, Landry was better as a Jr than any QB the Lobos have had since Graham Leigh. Kole McKamey was a good QB, injuries held him back from being a great QB.

Some of the guys on The Red Menace a while back were speculating that if Gautsche ended up at UNM that they wouldn't be surprised to see Walton transfer. I wonder what the odds are that Walton does transfer, and what would be the odds that he ends up at NMSU? Did NMSU recruit Walton?

Walton had offers from NMSU and Colorado State besides UNM. He would have to just sit out a year if he did transfer to another D1 school. I'd go to CSU, but I just like Fort Collins, pretty area.
