Saw the Artesia baseball team and some coaches and parents at Isotopes Park for the Friday night and Saturday afternoon games between UNM and TCU. If you ask them, they'll probably say they had a blast. Both of those games were thrillers, although I sure wish UNM had won both. They won a walk-off classic Friday, 9-8, but lost in the 9th yesterday, 5-4.
Today, the Lobos won the series for the first time vs. TCU in MWC home play, with a 12-7 win. TCU had owned "The Lab" (a nickname for Isotopes Park) in MWC play before, including a sweep here last year.
It was also cool to see the team, coaches and families from Clovis there also. I know the big myth in ABQ is that schools from "east of Clines Corners" won't support UNM teams, but these folks were sure there. Besides, I love seeing those people (the naysayers about the part of the state east of Clines Corners) proven wrong yet again.

We had a lot of fun Friday night. Two blown saves in the 9th inning and the home team Lobos fighting back in the bottom half was exciting. The boys know several of the Lobo freshmen and of course Trevor Whitmire has signed with them so they pay attention. They had fun.
Trevor Eulenbach was bummed out after losing to Rio Rancho with a 4 hit, no earned run loss earlier but was in a much better mood after a WhiteSox scout saw him at the Lobo game and told him he had watched him and was impressed with him. There will be no living with him now.

OK I gave you a softball and you hit it hard. First Conference series loss in TCU History. I am selling my Cowboy tickets to buy TCU Football season tickets. Love my Frogs and I do look good in Purple and Black

Lobos actually won a series in Fort Worth in the regular season a couple of years ago, and they did go 2-0 in the MWC tourney last year, FWIW.
I get to go free to the Lobo baseball games, so I rarely miss them. My big "miss" this year was the SDSU series. I wasn't feeling well, and my car was in the shop.
Couple of Goddard kids did well over the weekend. Chris Nunez, freshman LF from there, was clutch yesterday. And a JC kid from Goddard, by way of Clarendon (Texas) JC named Hobie McClain, pitched well in relief Saturday. He got a no-decision.

Love my Frogs and I do look good in Purple and Black That's funny CD! I never in a MILLION YEARS would have figured you for a Horny Toad fan. But, they ARE right in your backyard. Heck, if you crawled up on your roof you could probably watch TCU games with a pair of binoculars. Just how far is it anyway from your living room to Amon Carter Stadium? What, maybe 14 miles as the crow flies? We should all be so lucky.

Crispy I am about 20 minutes to Amon Carter and about 20 minutes from Rangers ballpark. Throw in the short 1 block walk to Golf Course, 1/2 mile from Mansfield Methodist High School Football Stadium and 1/2 mile from Big League Dreams baseball parks and life is good
