I voted 8-2, we've just never beaten Clovis since 06, I'm not sure how Las Cruces will look this year but we play them at home and Goddard on the road. I think the rest are winnable, be some tough games here and there though.

I voted 9-1. For the past few years I have been hearing that THIS year is supposed to be the year......one of those special years that only comes around once every 10 years or so. So I am putting my stock on that.
From everything I have heard, not on this site but on other sites, we could be favored against Goddard. The other 2 biggies are Clovis and Cruces. I could see us stealing a game against either one of those. Probably not both of them, but maybe one. I don't really see us dropping a game against anybody else. Take care of business with Goddard, and steal a game from either Cruces or Clovis and we are 9-1.
AH! Forgot about Carlsbad. Just remembered their QB from last year was a man among boys! Rodney Holcomb 6-4 200. He pretty much did anything he wanted against us last year and he was only a sophomore. He will be a great one! I don't see him being in Landry's league, but he might very well be on the same level as Dustin Walton and Cole Gautsche. We could very well drop that game against Carlsbad.
OK, here it is.....Goddard (Win). Clovis and Cruces (win at least one of those, and lose the other one). Carlsbad (loss).
Probably SHOULD revise my vote to 8-2. But I will stick with 9-1.

I think we may surprise alot of teams, Hobbs will be better than before with new wide open offense, but defense? I said 8-2 just have 3 teams in mind that will be tough but like crispy we should win one of those?? Like to see 10-0 but just dont think it will happen! Get 'em DOGS!

I agree Crispy, lot of hype for this year, well see. I believe we will put a strong team on the field this year.
8-2 seems likely and 9-1 or even 10-0 could be possible but we've just never had much luck against Clovis and going into Clovis is tough. One of our best teams ever 2006 came away with an 8 point victory. Goddard will be tough, they lose greene and anaya, Cody French filled in nicely for greene when he was out. You know Hobbs would love to beat us too with the new coach like you said bgp and it being in their house, 2nd game of the year.
I think we are in for a good year, of course all that matters is that we got the blue trophy in the end.

You know what burns my ass more than anything! Pardon the language, but this really sticks in my craw! What really pisses me off is that we went 0-4 against Manzano!
And now they are not even on the schedule for this year! We may never play them again. Not to mention that what makes it way worse is that they are from frickin' Albuquerque! Probably the only Albuquerque school that OWNS the Bulldogs. And you can bet that everybody in Albq knows it! That is what really ticks me off!
And the fact that Artesia has the better program just makes it worse.

Ocampo was the difference in the Manzano team. I believe they will return to mediocrity now that he is gone. He spent his playing and coaching career figuring out how to beat us. Give credit where it is due. He will be even scarier once he gets Centennial to buy into his system. He will build them into a powerhouse in a few years.
By the way I agree it sticks in my craw also.

So what is the record between Del Norte and Artesia? Have they ever played?

So what is the record between Del Norte and Artesia? Have they ever played? No, we have never played Del Norte. In fact, I have only seen Del Norte play one time. I went to the Wool Bowl in Roswell, I think it was in the late 80s, and watched Roswell High play Del Norte in the AAAA state championship game. We were in AAA at that time with Lovington, Portales, and Tucumcari. There was no AAAAA, so AAAA was the largest classification. Not sure exactly what year it was, but I know that it was during the Mickey Reeves era. I think it may have been Mickey's senior year at Roswell. Also, Jim Bradley was the Roswell head coach at that time. This list has been posted on here before, but it has been a while. It says..."as of Aug. 2005"....so I guess that means that the 2004 season is included, but nothing beyond that. So it hasn't been updated in quite a while. Somebody who has the time should take it and run with it. But no, we have never played Del Norte according to this list, and I know we haven't played them since 2004. And I would still like to know what the deal was with the game against the Ft. Worth school, (why it was played). I have never talked to anybody that knows anything about it. Not sure who the Artesia coach was back then, but I know that it was even before the days of L.G. (Cooper's dad). The game was played at Morris Field. Ronnie Null has an old game program from that game against Ft. Worth Lake Worth at his antique store. It is encased in plastic and NOT for sale. But he has it hanging on the wall for display along with a lot of other OLD Bulldog stuff, NONE of it for sale. Artesia's Record vs. ALL Opponents (as of Aug. 2005)Lovington 32-6-3 Hobbs 31-12-1 Roswell Goddard 27-9-1 Tucumcari 25-1-2 Portales 24-6-1 Roswell 24-25 Ruidoso 22-4 Alamogordo 19-6 Carlsbad 19-26-2 Las Cruces 14-5-2 NMMI 11-0 Clovis 11-7-1 Bloomfield 10-1 Aztec 9-1 El Paso Irvin (TX) 9-3 Las Cruces Onate 8-1 Moriarty 7-0 Silver City 7-0 Albuquerque St Pius 7-1 El Paso Eastwood (TX) 7-3 Fabens (TX) 6-0 Kirtland Central 6-0 Deming 5-0 Las Vegas Robertson 5-0 Rio Rancho 5-0 Las Cruces Mayfield 5-3 Albuquerque Eldorado 4-0 El Paso Cathedral (TX) 4-0 Socorro 4-0 Seminole (TX) 4-1 Albuquerque Highland 4-2-2 Raton 4-2 Bayard Cobre 3-0 Taos 3-0 Monahans (TX) 3-1 Tularosa 3-1 Albuquerque 2-0 El Paso Bowie (TX) 2-0 El Paso Riverside (TX) 2-0 West Las Vegas 2-0 McCamey (TX) 2-0 Santa Fe Capital 2-0 Santa Fe St Michaels 2-0 Truth or Consequences 2-0 Farmington 2-0-1 Albuquerque Sandia 2-1 El Paso Ysleta (TX) 2-1 Dumas (TX) 2-2 Alpine (TX) 1-0 El Paso Burges (TX) 1-0 El Paso Jefferson (TX) 1-0 El Paso Montwood (TX) 1-0 Fort Worth Lake Worth (TX) 1-0 Gallup 1-0 El Paso Coronado (TX) 1-1 Levelland (TX) 1-1 Odessa Ector (TX) 1-1 Kermit (TX) 1-3 Pecos (TX) 1-3 Albuquerque Academy 0-1-1 El Paso Bel Air (TX) 0-1 Grants 0-1

Your not the only one crispy lol, nothing like going 8-0 or whatever it was against Rio Rancho, no offense mikemoe, we had their number ever year. I agree Ocampo deserved a lot of credit for Manzano's turnaround, they were up there with some of the elite 5A teams. I too think they will fade away some with him gone.

Don't we have a loss against Silver? those records are current as of aug 2005 according to crispy, so that loss to silver happened later that year. I remember that game well, was wanting a rematch with them soo bad in the years that followed but never happened. Silver is now 3A so it may be sometime before we ever play them again.

lets get some more votes in this poll, 8-2 looks to be the most voted on. That's fine with me as long as the losses are to Clovis and Cruces, not that I want to lose to them but I can deal with those lol.
