If you live in the Metroplex and want to find a place to cool off naturally, go up I-35 past my hometown of Ardmore to Turner Falls Park, It's a city park owned by the city of Davis, Okla.
My brother, whose birthday was yesterday, had a swimming party almost ever year that we lived in Ardmore. There are two swimming areas - at the falls, and by the park entrance. It's also very scenic around there, and several church camps are nearby in the Arbuckles. They won't be mistaken for the mountains near Ruidoso or Cloudcroft, but for that part of the world you'd be pleasantly surprised by the scenery.
