Yeah, I read about that on The Red Menace a couple of days ago. The die-hard Lobo fans that post on that board are pissed! They are ready to string that guy up, lol. Not enough D-1 athletes in NM each year to sustain a decent program at UNM or NMSU. Good idea in theory to have half of your roster made up of kids from in-state, but horrible idea in reality. We are not Texas or USC.

Texas is not doing too well. True! Texas use to get most ALL of the top-notch Texas kids. But now they are losing the in-state recruiting battle to places like Baylor and TCU.

I do think every year there are a few athletes that slip thru UNM and NMSU hands but not a good idea. Something like recruiting cant be legislated. That was missed in the Lobos "success" this year, they were third in their division of the conference in recruiting, I think it was by Phil Steele's magazine.
