Posted in another thread but figured to give it, it's own thread.
Thoughts on the new season ? predictions?
I won't predict anything this year, just know too many of them playing, let it play out but I think it will be a good year, see no reason why they can't contend for the district title and a state championship.
As for our district I think Roswell High will sink down a little, they lose a few good ones, had a lot of things go their way last year and were home for the playoffs. I think Goddard will rise up some, they have good talent coming up. Lovington may start some younger talent this year, I know a few freshman got some time last year, I figure they will still struggle in the district, but maybe another year away from competing at a higher level. Alamo I have no clue, went winless in district and just 1 win on the season last year, really struggled, have a good coach that's been around football in Cisco.

Omg can you tell I’m getting older lol.
The district changes still have me confused, they are with us in basketball and baseball, but not football anymore, which I still don’t get, and Roswell 5A in everything but football, makes no sense to me,but that’s another subject.
Two questions: does anyone know if there is going to be instant replay in NM football this year? I understand it was approved by the national governing body of high school football. Secondly who is the new Belen Eagles coach? Hennington will be offensive coordinator at El Dorado HS in ABQ.
Another significant change approved by the committee was the addition of a note to Rule 1-3-7 to permit state associations to create instant-replay procedures for state postseason contests only. This revision would allow game or replay officials to use a replay monitor during state postseason contests to review decisions by the on-field game officials. Use of a replay monitor would be on a state-by-state adoption basis, and the methodology for reviewing calls would be determined by the applicable state association
I see they added the Horse Collar rule, I'd hear people scream about this all the time in the stands but it was not illegal, that was a NFL rule and people would confuse that with the HS Game. But is a rule now it appears. I think my cousin who's running the chains would say even some opposing coaches would call for that penalty and the ref would say that's an NFL rule coach lol.
